Celebrating 3 years of FNL in Cape Town

The glory and the grandeur of South Africa’s mother synagogue, having been founded in 1841, was recaptured on Friday night October 15 when over 1 200 people flocked to Cape Town’s Gardens Shul to celebrate the third anniversary of its Friday Night Live (FNL). An initiative of the shul, it is now being emulated in synagogues in Johannesburg, Sydney and elsewhere.

This past Moitzoi Shabbos, Bochurim from Yeshivas Lubavitch Cincinnati went Ice skating and slurpees with the Cincinnati Community, as one member of the Cummunity joked “it’s great to see Bochurim excited for other things then learning”.

A week after torrential rains flooded much of the tropical paradise in Koh Samui, Thailand, claiming dozens of lives in the countryside and causing extensive damage to the local Chabad House and attached kosher restaurant, preliminary assessments indicate that travelling Jewish backpackers have safely left the area.
