‘I Tried To Save Him!’ Teen Thug Says

Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Dean Henry Pinkham lights the candle of Columbia University President Lee Bollinger at a memorial service for Minghui Yu, a graduate student struck and killed by a car after being beaten by a 14 year old thug last Friday.

Ed. Note: Just note how the 14 year old here is being charged with manslaughter, which means he caused the death of his victim. This should serve as a wakeup call that teens that perpetrate crime should be held just as serious as any crime, and not looked at in a lax manner. Like the incident where police arrested Shomrim members in just this type of an incident.

The teen accused of attacking a Columbia grad student claims he tried to stop him from running into traffic, where he was killed, a detective testified Thursday.

After ambushing and pummeling Minghui Yu, the 14-year-old thug “attempted to grab Mr. Yu to keep him from going into traffic,” NYPD Detective John Garvey said, recounting the teen’s statements. “Mr. Yu pushed him off and ran.”

Jewish Prisoner Settles Suit Over Denial of Religious Rights

By Joshua Runyan – Chabad.org

Workers at the Aleph Institute, a Chabad-Lubavitch organization based in Surfside, Fla., that provides for the needs of Jewish prisoners and military personnel, prepare shipments of Passover supplies.

The Vermont Department of Corrections settled a lawsuit with a Jewish former inmate who had been denied kosher food over Passover and ritual items over Chanukah and Purim. As part of its $25,000 settlement with Gordon Bock, 53, the department agreed to alter its policies dealing with the free exercise of religion and rely on the recommendations of the Aleph Institute, a Chabad-Lubavitch organization based in Surfside, Fla.
