Pedestrian Struck while Crossing Eastern Parkway

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Just moments ago, at around 3:00pm, a pedestrian was struck while trying to cross Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue. A Hatzalah ambulance that was passing on their way to assist at another accident witnessed the incident and stopped to help.

Thief Ransacks Chabad House

A computer was stolen from this desk at the Edgewood Ave. house of Yale Chabad on Sunday morning.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The New Haven Police Department on Sunday arrested a suspect in the theft of $1,000-$2,000 worth of electronics from the Edgewood Ave. house of Yale Chabad, an organization that espouses the Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic movement.

Prowler Apprehended by Shomrim, Indicted

BROOKLYN, NY [CHI] — After apprehending a perpetrator that was lurking in a Jewish building on Friday night (Click Here for that story), the Shomrim member that observed the crime along with the arresting officer spend a day in court last week where they testified against the perp before a grand jury.

Vingal Carter, a 46 year old career criminal who has been in and out of the system for offences ranging from drugs to assaults, and later the most serious offence, rape, was released from prison just 5 days before he was apprehended by Shomrim inside a building with a pry bar in his possession.

Penn Sinai Scholars Visit Crown Heights

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Participants of the prestigious Sinai Scholars Society from the University of Pennsylvania chapter visited Crown Heights on Sunday. The Ivy League students enjoyed miniature golf on the rooftop of the JCM, They laid Teffilin in 770, The Agudas Chasidei Chabad Library, to the all new Muchnik Arts Gallery and the Matzah Bakery. What was an eye opener for them was also a very enjoyable experience and sure to be remembered for a lifetime.

Vol. 25 of Yalkut Moshiach published in honor of 25 Adar Sheni!

In honor of the great and auspicious day, Chof Hey Adar Sheni, the 107th birthday of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka OBM – volume Chof Hey [25] of the series of Yalkut Moshiach Ugeula al Hatorah has been printed.

The 25th volume is on Parshas Behar and Bechukosay and it has 764 pages. It is a very colorful collection of many Mefarshim in Parda”s Hatorah on all subjects of the Geula.

Omaha Center Celebrates 20 Years with Noted Musicians

Two award-winning musicians will headline the 20th anniversary gala event benefiting Chabad-Lubavitch of Nebraska, co-directed by Rabbi Mendel and Shani Katzman, in Omaha’s vaunted KANEKO center.

The April 13 event, dubbed “Mitzvahs and Music,” will be conducted by Hal France, former artistic director of the Omaha Opera and former music director of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. Pianist Stanislav Ioudenitch and vocalist Marcelo Guzzo will perform a selection of Chasidic melodies.

“The evening will come to a spectacular end with two distinguished musical performances,” exclaimed France. “This is a great opportunity to hear two young world-class talents up close in an exciting new venue. I’m looking forward to hearing some great music and seeing some electing performances from these two young starts.

MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ — Jewish community members here were able to celebrate Purim in Israel Friday without even stepping onto a plane.

The Chabad Jewish Center of Monroe transformed a portion of the Forsgate Country Club to bring a taste of Israel to their lively Purim celebration.

“Purim is the most joyous holiday of the year,” Rabbi Eliezer Zaklikovsky said. “It’s the victory of the Jewish people against the king of Persia and the regime of that time.”
