Menorah Lighting Draws Hundreds

City and state dignitaries were among the several hundred people who gathered Sunday night in Old Town Square to celebrate Hanukkah with the lighting of a giant menorah.

“It is fabulous. After all of the controversy and things going on in the past week and the past year, it is nice to see their support,” said Jennifer Pustilnik, who attended the celebration with her children.

SILVER SPRING, MD — In a holiday celebration Monday, seven children spun like a dreidel as they sang along with children’s entertainer Susan McNelis.

“Oh, dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of clay. And when it’s dry and ready, then dreidel I shall play,” they all sang.

ALBANY, NY — A Hebrew Day School in Albany celebrates an important milestone on the seventh night of Chanukah. They overcame the destruction of irreplaceable pews at the hands of vandals over the summer. The dedication Monday represented a historic milestone in the history of this city’s Jewish community.

They filmed the news piece at the home of the Shluchim to Nashville Rabbi Yitzchok and Esther Tiechtel, and it was aired on a major news network that is viewed by several hundred thousand people daily.
