With a stiff breeze feeding a torch carried past them Sunday evening, scores of people lit candles outside The Jacksonville Landing to observe the sixth night of Hanukkah.

“Light is meant to be spread. Light begets light,” Rabbi Yoseph Kahanov, executive director of Chabad of Northeast Florida, told about 125 people gathered to mark the Jewish festival. “The soul of man is the candle of God. So let’s light up our candles.”

Sem girls bring American carnival to Kfar Chabad

KFAR CHABAD, Israel [CHI] — The women’s section of the Beis Menachem Shul in Kfar Chabad was booming with excitement as the village’s children ran from booth to booth. In the spirit of Chanukah, the American Girls Seminary in Michlelet Beth Rivkah organized a carnival full of fun. Although signs for the carnival were only seen as of Monday night, when the doors opened at 2:30pm on Wednesday, the first day of Chanukah, hundreds of children were waiting anxiously at the door.

The Marriott Hotel Celebrates Chanukah

BROOKLYN, NY [CHI] — The Marriott Hotels at the Brooklyn Bridge has joined the ranks of the hundreds upon hundreds of venues that sponsor a public Chanukah menorah lighting ceremony.

This year’s event took place on Wednesday evening, the second night of Chanukah in the hotels grand lobby. The Marriott Hotel at the Brooklyn Bridge has the distinct honor of being the former home to the International Conference of the Chabad-Lubavitch Shluchim and the current home of the International Conference of Shluchos.
