First Mikvah Opens in Estonia’s Capital

TALLINN, Estonia -– The Synagogue in Tallinn hosted a ceremony and celebration for the inauguration of its new Mikvah. This event holds special significance for the Jewish community of Estonia, since the republic has been without a Mikvah since World War Two. This, no doubt, represents an important stage in the revival of Jewish life in Estonia.

Russia’s Chief Rabbi  has his 12th Child

MOSCOW, Russia –- On the night of August 28, Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar’s wife Chana gave birth to a daughter, the rabbi’s press service has informed Interfax.

Now the Lazars have 12 children – 5 boys: Jehezkel, 15; Menachem Mendel, 13; Sholom 12; Isroel Arie Leib, 9; Levi Itzhak, 8; and 7 girls: Bluma, 16; Fradel, 12; Dvorah Lea, 8; Sterna Sarah 6; Broha, 6, Rivka, 3; and their newly born sister.

The Tzfasman family will be sitting Shiva until Tuesday after the tragic and very untimely passing of their son and sibling HaBochur HaTomim Yisroel Noach OBM who was struck and killed L”A by a train. They will be sitting shiva at their home at 551 Crown St [between Kingston and Albany Ave].

Shachris will be at 9 AM, Mincha at 7 PM, followed by Maariv.
