Crown Heights, Brooklyn — At about 3 O’Clock in the afternoon Today, Sunday, a fire broke out in an apartment building, 501 Lefferts Ave between Kingston and Brooklyn Ave. The fire was on the seventh floor of the coplex and ripped through an entire unit.

Aliya Buys Building

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — ALIYA finally purchases its 4,000 sq ft building after being in contract for over a year on the eve of the purchase of 770. The building was closed right before Shkiah of 12th of Av which marks the 40th anniversary of the purchase of 770. This building has been renovated throughout the year by the Aliya members and has been housing all of the ALIYA activities which include a Shul (Shabbos & daily) , a gym for Aliya members and the community, Shiurim, farbrengens, GED programs, a lounge, counseling and a home for the youth.
