New Israel-Themed Playground at L.I. Chabad House

With the vision in mind, Rabbi Shalom and Sara Paltiel began to create a new Disney-like, Israel-themed, 1,800 square foot playground and cultural recreation center at Chabad of Port Washington in Long Island, NY. The new installment includes a recreational area with access to instruments, a puppet theater, a faux-marketplace, a costume area, a replica of ancient ruins, a live streaming feed of a bustling center in Israel, a camel, and a tree.

New Shluchim to Maryland

Rabbi Bentzion and Devorah Stolik of Crown Heights, together with their young daughter Chaya Mushka, will be moving to Aspen Hill, Maryland, where they will open a Chabad House and serve the local Jewish community will all their spiritual needs.

Hundreds of Jewish Students Camp Out near UC Irvine

Brianna Lerman had a rare opportunity one recent weekend. The California Polytechnic State University junior traveled from S. Luis Obispo to Costa Mesa to attend the West Coast Jewish Student Summit with 250 of her peers. Long involved in the Jewish community throughout her prior schooling, Lerman enjoyed the chance to speak Hebrew, talk about Israel, and reflect on Judaism and Jewish values.

When a recipe moved over the wire for hamantashen — triangular, fruit-filled cookies associated with the Jewish holiday of Purim — it took me back five years to a particularly festive day of a 10-day trip to Israel.

Chabad Hebrew School Brings Purim Joy to Seniors

Smiles were seen on both children and seniors at a local Purim party hosted by the Chabad of Briarcliff, Hebrew School in upstate New York, directed by Rabbi Dovid and Miriam Labkowski. Throughout the year, the students have been participating in an “Adopt a Senior Program.” This is the second holiday party held for the seniors, in addition to the private visits that are made by the students.

Almost 200 people attended the Lubavitch Purim Concert and Dinner in Glasgow, Scotland on Purim. Bookings for the event closed three weeks before Purim, and on the night of the event there was a waiting list of 30 people!

Chabad Brings Joy to Downtown Brooklyn Seniors

Over 40 Seniors from Downtown Brooklyn gathered to celebrate a Pre-Purim Brunch – a project of Chabad of Brooklyn Heights. The Seniors enjoyed a concert by the world renowned chazzan Rabbi Zalman Baumgarten.

A Special Purim for Manchester’s Special Children

The friendship Circle of Manchester’s Purim Party, held on Wednesday night, was attended by over 100 participants. They first heard the Megila, read by Rabbi Rachamim Goodman, and then partied in style with live music, food and dance until late into the night!
