Oholei Torah’s Eighth Grade is hosting their third Shushan Purim Carnival this Wednesday at 1:00pm in Oholei Torah’s Gym. There will be lots of booths • Split the pot • Raffles • Prizes • Food will be sold • And much more! Admission only $1 tickets 25¢.

PSA: Don’t let the Police Spoil your Purim

Today is Purim, a day we are all merry and are celebrating our holiday. We drive around in our cars loaded with our families and goodies to distribute around the neighborhood; one of the days Mitzvot. We stop for a moment run into someone house to drop off one Shalach Manot and the greatness and jolliness of the day comes to a screeching halt. It gets spoiled with a $115 double parking violation.

The NYPD has been extremely over zealous with issuing parking summonses and bike summonses. In the past they targeted Jews in the most vicious manner on one of the happiest of holidays.

Don’t become a victim.

Alternate Side Parking Rules Suspended Tuesday

Alternate side parking (street cleaning) regulations will be suspended on Tuesday, March 10 for Purim. All other regulations, including parking meters, remain in effect.

Tonight – Daylight Savings Time – Move Clocks Hour Ahead

Tonight at 2:00am we will be entering Daylight Savings Time and we move the clock one hour forward. At 2:00am it will become 3:00am, making us all lose an hour of sleep.

Make sure to change your clocks before you get to bed, as to avoid any confusion and being an hour late to everything.

The New York City Office of Emergency Management reminds New Yorkers to change the batteries in their smoke detectors as well.

PSA: Early Torah Reading for Womean on Parshes Zocher

WHERE: Congregation K’hal Chasidim 1612 Carroll Street. (Corner Schenectady Ave.)

WHEN: Shabbos Parshes Zocher, Torah reading begins at 9:00 A.M. SHARP Parshes Zocher is will be read at approximately 9:20 A.M.

There will also be two extra Megilla readings for woman one will be Purim night at 9:30 P.M. and the other will be on Purim day at 11:30 A.M.

Oholei Torah Thanks Alumni for Helping Make Tribute

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you, the classmates that help in the many preparations, the ones I called at all hours for input and suggestions, the classmates that were able to join the actual event, and the ones who showed support and interest, even though they were not able to join the Dinner.

In one aspect it is hard to say that I enjoyed working with you, since the circumstances around this gathering were so painful and difficult, yet at the same time, the concern, interest and achdus I felt was inspiring and brought me great pleasure, seeng that even after 10 years since you left the physical walls of Troy Avenue, nevertheless, you still remain together and have a ahavas rai’im just as it was in your days in Oholei Torah.

Alternate Side Parking is in Effect Today, Thursday

Residents please be sure to dig your car out of the snow and move it for alternate side parking today, Thursday. The DOT and DSNY did NOT suspend Alternate Side Parking, as they have done the last couple of days.

In the last couple of years, in situations such as we are having today. Where there is still a lot of snow on the streets and sidewalks, but alternate side parking was in effect. The NYPD would be out in full force giving out tickets. Don’t become the next ‘korbon’ and move your car before you get a ticket.

For Shluchim looking for bochurim to help with peulos or other types of Shlichus, and bochurim looking to help a shliach over Purim, Pesach or all the year round- look no further – your answer is BochurimPlacement.com which is part of the online placement service offered by the Shluchim Office, run out of their Brooklyn office.

It couldn’t be easier: the Shliach posts the job he is offering indicating the details of the job and what he is looking for in a bochur. The online service then presents the Shliach with a list of bochurim who match his criteria. The Shliach can then contact the Bochur/im directly to work out details. It works the same way for a bochur, once he posts his profile online he can see a list of Shluchim looking for Bochurim and contact a shliach if he is interested in helping him out.

PSA: Attention All Bikers, Do Not Ride on the Sidewalk

Sunday afternoon on Albany Ave between Eastern Pkwy and Union St, a Jewish man was stopped by police as he was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk. The Israeli man didn’t know it was illegal to ride his bicycle on the sidewalk, as he had recently moved here. However, after arguing with the officer and the officer calling for backup to restrain him, he was issued a summons for biking on the sidewalk.

Lately the police have been giving out all types of nonsense summonses. We would like warn all residents thirteen and older DO NOT ride your bicycles on the sidewalks, you can be summonsed and your bicycle can be seized and impounded.
