Chanukah lit up Brisbane, Australia’s CBD as the Jewish community joined with friends and visitors to celebrate the first night of the eight day festival with the lighting of a six metre tall menorah in Reddacliff Place, Queen Street Mall on the evening of Tuesday 20 December.

Over 200 people gathered Wednesday night adjacent to the Lincolnwood, IL Village Hall to celebrate Chanukah. Although the Rebbe’s Menorah was intended to be a replica of the one in the Beis Hamikdosh, the same cannot be said about this one because the official position of the Israeli government is that the Beis Hamikdosh’s Menorah was round.
