Request for a Prayer for the Recovery of the Injured Officers

Early this morning two officers of the NYPD who are assigned to the 71st precinct which is the one that protects our streets were shot while performing a traffic stop of a vehicle that’s license plates did not match the car, the two officers were shot.

Officer Russell Timoshenko, 23, was reported to be in grave condition with two wounds to the face and with bullets lodged in the back of his skull. His partner, Officer Herman Yan, 26, also was wounded, but a shot to his chest was stopped by his bullet-resistant vest.

Readers are requested to please have them in your prayers for a complete and speedy recovery.

Two NYPD Officers Shot In Crown Heights

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — Two New York City Police officers were shot early Monday morning during a routine traffic stop in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

Officer Russell Timoshenko, 23, was shot in the face and neck and is in extremely critical condition.

An officer at the hospital said, “It would be a miracle if he survives.”

Residents note: Many streets are currently closed to vehicular traffic around the area.

Fledgling Chabad House Hailed as Club of the Year

When Rabbi Levi and Hadassah Backman arrived at Western Washington University in Bellingham, they didn’t expect their Chabad House to win an award in just under a year-and-a-half. But on May 31 – the date represented the completion of the Backmans’ fifth trimester serving the students and surrounding community – Associated Students, the university’s umbrella organization of student activities, awarded the Backmans’ student club the religious “Club of the Year” commendation.

In its presentation, Associated Students hailed the 17-month-old Chabad House, one of 20 religious clubs at Western Washington, for bringing “Shabbat for everyone to campus.”

New Shluchim to Toronto

Rabbi Sholom and Mrs. Devora Lezell have recently moved to The Beaches community to establish a new Chabad House, serving the needs of the Jewish communities of Toronto East.
