A film crew was out and about on Montgomery Street today, shooting scenes for a new movie to be released sometime next year. According to one crewmember, the film is titled ‘Staring at the Sun’ and tells the story of two rebellious Hasidic teenagers and their onerous journeys from and to their faithful upbringing.

Letters Pour In to Israeli Soldiers, Offering Support and Pledging a Mitzvah

The emails came in from around the world and in a host of languages—English, Spanish, Russian and more. Some letters were written by seniors, others by children. A few of the letters had pictures attached, others not. Most of the writers committed to doing a mitzvah, an act of goodness—be it giving charity, lighting Shabbat candles, increasing Torah study or reciting prayers.


Boruch Dayan Ho’emes: IDF ‘Lone Soldier’ Found Dead

The body of 21-year-old David Menachem Gordon, an American ‘lone soldier’ in the IDF who was reported missing after failing to appear at his posts since Sunday, has been found. An IDF spokesperson said the soldier’s lifeless body was found in central Israel, with his weapon lying at his side.

Almost Two Dozen Shot in NYC Over Weekend

Two people were killed and 21 injured in more than a dozen separate shootings in New York City over the weekend. The gun violence, scattered around four New York boroughs, is part of a recent increase in shooting incidents in the city, despite a sharp decline in crime over the past two decades.

Op-Ed: Should Israel Defend Itself?

As a close observer of, and someone who is concerned with, the recent Israel-Hamas war, and with the knowledge that such a war is as much about winning the world’s support and sympathy as it is defensive and offensive, I find Israel’s PR strategy disheartening and insufficient.
