  • Drums for everyone!

Very nice but it is very unfair that so many boys are left out of this. These parades do not happen every year and this is something that my son has always looked forward to. Now that he is in 7th grade in OT, he can not participate as only LY boys in that grade are permitted to be in the marching band.ALL the boys in 7th and 8th grade should be permitted!!! My son is very disappointed.

  • Dad of drummer boy

    Sruly,

hey webby can you get a video clip or recording of them playing. That would be great!

Perhaps a clip of each band, OT, ULY… and have a survey for the best one.

    a Montrealer.
It is so nice to see that young boys are encouraged to use their talents, other than just learning.they then become well rounded bochrim & husbands!

    Hey Yossi,
Last year you began guitar, now you’re a drummer too?!?

  • C. H.

As 1 of the drummers of the last parade with the Rebbe, i was able to see that the Rebbe enjoyed the drumming bands very very much, the excitement the Rebbe showed was very obvious. The Rebbe was saluting us with 2 hands, and the smile on the Rebbe’s face was ear to ear.

    Wow, what an awesome memory.

PS of course i was in the OT band, :) not to brag, but we had lots more energy then LY shvach band. Moristown eh, was so, so.

  • tired of the status quo

Dear “Drums for…” and everyone else. Unfortunately, it’s probably business as usual in Lubavitch land: it’s not what you know or what grade you’re in or how much you want something, or how capable you are, it’s all about who you know or how much you’ve got (as in $$$$).

  • a writing bubby

    oy kinderlach,
when will you (the negative commentators) learn that sometimes it is more gezunt to just smile and enjoy a moment!!
challenge yourselves to see the good in every situatation for just one day. you’ll be amazed at the kind of day you have!!

To “Tired of…”, “Drums for..” etc.:
    Wrong!
it has been like this for quite a few years, (at least ten that i can remember) that it is only 8th graders. and from those, only the 15 or so most capable. on occasion if there is an exceptionable 7th grader, he gets in too. all the kids pay an equal fee. and it is not possible to have the entire 7th and 8th grades! that is 100 kids or more (depending on which school)! also, if your son was in 6th grade, then you would want all three grades to march, since he wont get another chance. (Lag Baomer only falls out on Sunday every third year or so). every kid dreams of helping in the Lag Baomer parade when they can, but there isn’t always so much to do. not EVERY person can march in the parade, some people watch, some people drum etc. look! i always dreamt of saying a Posuk by the parade, but HEY! there are only 12 for 5000 kids!! so life is cruel?! too bad! GROW UP!
if your son wants the Zechus to help in the Rebbe’s parade? ask the organizers, there is still lots more things to be done. like hanging signs, setting up chairs, making sandwiches etc.

To CH: OT never had a band, at least last year. and if you’re standing on the kingston crown you could hear them play and today I heard them play even without the instructor. THEIR FANTASTIC
