Massachusetts Teens Help Rebuild New Orleans Homes

A recent trip by 40 North Shore Jewish teens and 15 adult chaperones to rebuild homes in the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans continues to inspire, Rabbi Shmaya Friedman of Chabad of the North Shore on Burrill Street told the Salem News.

from the Salem News:

Friedman, who also went on the trip with Chabad’s Rabbi Yossi Lipsker, said he continues to get messages from teens telling him how much the 1Mitzvah and Chabad service trip has changed their outlook.

“This is unprecedented,” said Lipsker of the trip, “and it made a real impact.”

Lipsker said the trip was a display of the quintessential idea in Jewish life of putting others’ needs before one’s own.
