This Thursday, multiple training sessions for CGI counselors and staff will be held in Crown Heights. The event will feature a select variety of professionals, who will address key issues and provide practical advice to make camp a meaningful and impactful experience for both camper and camp counselor.
CKids—under the direction of Merkos 302—is pioneering this initiative, which will host separate training sessions for bochurim and girls. Speakers include Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Gavriel Fagin, Rabbi Zalmy Kudan and Michal Simon.
Speakers will explore topics such as leadership, behavioral management, abuse prevention, communication, problem solving, special needs, and cultivating a rapport with campers.
“Each course has designed with the needs of both camper and counselor in mind, providing the tools for effective implementation,” explains Rabbi Kudan. “By focusing on the practicalities of what to say and what to do, we maximize our impact on campers.”
“It is critical for counselors to be equipped with the best methods and tools, so that they can create the most inspiration and impact for today’s Jewish children,” added Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Vice chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch.
The upcoming staff training will not only provide the essentials for effective camp leadership, but will also impart key methods, practices and advice which can be translated and implemented wherever life takes them.
The event is part of a wider, global enterprise led by CKids of Merkos 302 to support the ever growing network of camps. Further courses and training are currently in development.
The event for bochurim will take place this coming Thursday, 28 Sivan (June 22) from 9:30am to 1:00pm at Lubavitcher Yeshiva. The event for girls will take place on Thursday, 28 Sivan (June 22) from 9:30 am to 12:00pm at Beis Rivka (Crown St.)
