Yud Tes Kislev in Longmeadow, MA

Chassidus teaches the world new principles for understanding the Torah and for reaching out to all people. Under the direction of Rabbi Dovid Edelman, Head Shliach to Western, MA for over 64 years, Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy (LYA) uses these Chassidic foundations to guide LYA and light up the community which it serves.

On Yud Tes Kislev, LYA in Longmeadow, MA held a festive breakfast in honor of the Release of the Alter Rebbe from prison. The breakfast was attended by parents, grandparents, students and staff. Rabbi Dovid Edelman, Dean of LYA, was on hand to greet the over 120 people that attended.

Rabbi Yosef Wolvovsky, LYA parent and Chabad Shliach to Glastonbury, CT, held a discussion with the students on the significance of the day. Rabbi Wolvovsky encouraged LYA students to follow the example of the Alter Rebbe and use their energy to light up the world on Chanukah.

During the program, LYA’s fourth grade performed a play about the Alter Rebbe’s arrest and liberation. Under the direction of their teacher, Rabbi Yakov Wolff, the students portrayed the miracles that occurred to the Alter Rebbe.

The students gave extra tzedaka in honor of the day and sang the twelve pesukim under the direction of Rabbi Noach Kosofsky, LYA principal.

LYA is accredited by NEASC, The New England Association of School and Colleges and is a Leader in Me school. An LYA education offers excellence in Judaic and secular studies for toddlers through eighth grade with individualized attention, as well as providing family education, and holiday programming.
