I had a conversation about Gimmel Tammuz with a good friend who grew up Litvish and fried out when he was a teenager. He’s now in his early fifties, and this is what he had to say:
“I remember Gimmel Tammuz. The surprise wasn’t that the Rebbe was niftar…it was the next day, when he didn’t come back. I think everyone, Lubavitch or not, expected him to. I still expect him to.”

I still remember the chaos, the pain.. everything.. I was 9, my brother 11.. we walked and walked who knows how far ? we got on a school bus.. I remember the megaphones till today “single file only! do not stop!” and we had maybe 1 second to walk past the tzion..

A mashpia once farbrenged with us, and said that on The Gimmul Tamuz on the way back from the Ohel he was thinking what does the Rebbe want now? How are we to continue?
He looked around the bus and he saw two bochurim discussing a sicha, and they discussed it till they arrived back in crown heights. When he saw that, he said, that’s exactly what the Rebbe wants!
That’s our mission, to be stronger now more then before in spreading the light of Nigleh and Nistar to the world.

Please show more pictures of the levaya. Maybe people like moshe chiam in the previous post will some day get it through their head that the Rebbe is dead, instead of living in a make believe dream world. Way back in history, after the churban bais hamikdosh, Yidden did not make believe it didn’t happen. The holocaust happened, and we do not make believe it didn’t happen. In this Shabbos’ Torah reading Miriam and Aharon die, and death is decreed on Moshe Rabbeinu. It was sad, but it happened. The Rebbe zt”l died 14 years ago. It is sad. Accept it. Get over it. Say Boruch Dayan Emes. Thank Hashem for the many good years of leadership we merited to from the Rebbe zt”l. The Rebbe zt”l stood for emes, not the crazy foolishness into which Lubavitch has descended.

There are a few things that need to be clarified in your comment. Firstly,you say that Bnei Yisroel accepted the fact that Moshe died, and you parrallel that to the idea of Gimmel Tammuz. We all know the idea of “Tzaddik Yesod Olam.” Without the Tzaddik of the generation, the world cannot continue to exist. Before Moshe passed away, he gave the leadership over to Yehoshua who then became the Yesod Olam, the Tzaddik of the generation. We know that there is “a spark of Moshe in every generation.” If you can so easily say that we should just accept that the Rebbe passed on as a fact, how do you explain the continued existence of the world today? There MUST be a continuation of the leadership, and I know I don’t see anyone in today’s world who seems to have taken over the Rebbe’s place.
Secondly, you say “Thank Hashem for the many good years of leadership we merited to from the Rebbe.” What the Rebbe gave us what not just leadership. The president of the United States can give us leadership. Our Shul Rabbi can give us leadership. What the Rebbe gives us is a direct connection to Hashem. The Rebbe is our Memutza Hamechaber- the medium between Hashem and ourselves, a G-dly man who can connect both worlds.
I understand that you’re trying to get a point accross, but you need to take some time to think about the ideas you are throwing around so easily. May we speedily come the day that all this talk no longer be relevant, when we meet in Yerushalayim with Moshiach!
