New York, NY — Four NYPD traffic agents were busted yesterday after they were caught writing bogus summonses in Manhattan, police said.

Davey Griffin, 30, Raheem King, 26, Julian Fisher, 24, and Gregory Baird, 56, were slapped with a slew of charges, including forgery, official misconduct, falsifying business records and offering a false instrument, police said.

In late June, the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau launched an investigation to test the integrity of their traffic agents after noticing disturbing “trends” and “patterns” in databases that log summonses, according to IAB chief Charles Campisi.

IAB cops illegally parked vehicles to test the agents and watched as they issued summonses, but failed to log the information into their handheld computers until hours later, Campisi said.

Under extensive IAB surveillance, the four were caught filing summonses that revealed they issued tickets to vehicles in one area when they were actually eating lunch at a restaurant somewhere else, said Campisi.

The agents also fraudulently filled out an NYPD summons refusal form, which they are required to do when a vehicle takes off before they have completed issuing the ticket, Campisi said. In some cases, the vehicles never existed and the agents filled out the form using information from vehicles they spotted hours earlier.

“They have to show they’re going out and working. They would go and hide and fool their supervisors that they were working all day,” said Campisi.

Hey, we may hate it when these guys give out tickets, but fact is, if not for traffic cops and meter maids, the city would be an impossible mess.

    To Mendy Hecht:

You’re right, but the city is also an impossible mess when they wrongly issue tickets and when they don’t issue tickets when they are supposed to.

Does this mean, according to your comment that; It’s OK if once in a while a crooked cop gives out a crooked ticket, because…we would have a “big mess” if we didn’t have them at all?!

I don’t know who are the bigger idiots, the stupid shvartza & P.R. cops who think they can make a “fast buck”, or the people who justify it.

A CROOK IS A CROOK IS A CROOK!

Just because the guy/woman has a uniform on this makes it right!?

Hey I was parked in a legal spot with a valid parking reciept from the MUNI-METER and still got a TICKET. CAN YOU GET MORE BOGUS THAN THIS?
