BDH: Rabbi Menachem Mendel Labkowsky OBM

With great sadness and pain we inform you of the untimely passing of California Shliach Rabbi Menachem Mendel Labkowsky OBM, after battling an illness.

He is survived by his wife Miriam, his children Nochum, Eliezer, Sender, Schneur Zalman, Aidy Chazzan, Leah Kesselman, and Mushka Rosenfeld, all of whom live in California.

He is also survived by his siblings, Rabbi Yisroel – Rosh Yeshiva Chovevei Torah (Crown Heights), Rabbi Schneur Zalman – Rosh Yeshiva Tomchei Temimim 770 (Crown Heights), Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok – Head Shliach and Rabbi of the Chabad community (Marsalis, France), Rabbi Shmuel – Magid Shiur in Tomchei Temimim (Brunoy, France), Rabbi Sholom Dov Ber – head of the Kolel Avreichim (Kfar Chabad, Israel), and Mrs. Leah Greenberg (Buffalo, NY).

The Levaya will take place on Sunday in New York. Times will be posted when they are announced.

    I too was a talmid of Reb Mendel 30 years ago in YOEC. He always had a true warm chasidisher smile for me every time he saw me. Years later, any time I saw him in New York he had that same smile for me like I was still in his class basking in his warm glow.

Living in LA for close to 2 decades you get to know the inner workings and make up of a community. Chassidishe, Litvishe and everything between… Reb Mendel OB’M was cherished by all. Truly a Yid Faar Gut Un Faar Leit! Chaval Al Davdin!!
