Last week Wednesday, August 16, a Bochur walking home at 11:30 at night after a shiur, was assaulted by a black male. The incident took place on Utica Ave. between Lincoln Pl. and Eastern Pkwy. where the perp came up behind the Bochur and struck him in the back of the head then ran away, making no demand for money.

The Bochur who happened to be on the phone with 911 for some other reason, immediately told the 911 dispatcher that he was just assaulted and that he still see’s the perp and they should dispatch a police unit, according to the Bochur the dispatcher said that the police will be there shortly and the Bochur requested that the dispatcher remain on the line with him for he didn’t feel safe in the neighborhood, to which the dispatcher responded “I have no time” and hung up.

43 minutes after the initial 911 call the Bochur flagged down a passing police officer who was nice enough to stop and hear the Bochur’s story and fill out a police report, during which the dispatched police unit showed up 15 minutes after flagging down that cop that was already writing up the report, where he took all his information and was told that a detective will be in touch with him.

Bochur Assaulted On Utica and Eastern Pkwy.

The Bochur later advised CrownHeights.info that the police never contacted him regarding this assault so he called up the precinct himself where he was told that there was no such police report ever filed, that it either got lost or was never written.

The most disturbing issue with this is that there is a building with over 23 yiddisher families in the building on St. Johns and Utica, and the police are regarding these mugging and assaults as petty crimes, when they are consider petty, but a criminal always starts with something small and when that is ignored bigger problems begin surfacing. Police reports getting lost means that this area never had such an assault and becomes less of a crime risk area and it looses patrols versus other high crime areas, when this area itself is a big issue.

So if C”V you are the victim of a crime, peruse the matter vigorously, do not let police downplay it to make statistics look better, and do not let them convince you that its not something that has to be reported. A crime not reported is a crime that didn’t happen! And remember to have Shomrim’s number readily available (718) 774-3333 24/7.

Looks like the 77th precinct will have a slow compstat for an awfully late-to-respond perp call.

crown heigts police are worthless…and according to me do more bad than good…lazy people who eat doughnuts all day… this has to stop..we need a campaign of some sort…something big…

Surely there’s something to be done with this dispatcher & once again, our wonderful NYPD? All 911 calls are recorded, so the dispatcher can be found. What’s with the huge delay in police response? And no records?

You can be VERY sure that if a Yid had attacked a Black (ho ho) police would have been there in droves, with helicopters!

Once again, lousy police response & no action from the council leaders.

I honestly thought that Ephraim Klein HY"D was enough to mobilize the community council.

    Guess I was wrong.

They’re too busy suing, fighting, etc. etc. The same old boring stuff that just doesn’t end.

They have to go. What next before someone gets it & does something?

I’d like to hear from Moshe Rubashkin in a PUBLIC FORUM after Labor Day when everyone is back. Call a meeting, open to everyone, with the police, including that anti-semite Vega, and let’s get some answers to our concerns. Tishrei is one month away. Add a few thousand foreigners to this mix, & we can expect trouble.

And PULEEZE…don’t start w/ Precinct meetings. They’re a waste of time, & yes, I know from where I speak. All Jews will be shouted down. And we’re not mugging them!!

    Someone…DO SOMETHING!!!

let the disbatcher who said i dont have time lose there job and burn down south
    how dare they say that

  • A concerned Parent

With all due respect for those families moving into new extended areas of C.H. I cannot understand why ANYONE would be walking those areas at 11.30pm You’re just asking for trouble. As everyone returns after the summer, our children have to be told again & again that they should not be walking in these outlying areas after it gets dark.Even in the "center" of C.H. these incidents are happening at a much higher rate than before, how much more so a few blocks off center.

We need a "new JDL" to show the shvartses that we can play hardball too.

  • Mom in CH

I agree 1000% with Misreable mom in CH.

We all realize that even the safest streets in Ch and in broad daylight is no longer safe.

Our children will be going to school soon? What’s going to be?

PS IF ANY SHVARTZEH COMES TO YOU ASKING FOR DIRECTIONS JUST RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

Do we have any liason to the police in the community counsel who may help these days? Ie Batya Brinel? Channina Sperlin? I heard Moishe Rubashkin called for Shmera to be disbanded in a meetting with the police. Police feel if we are fighting between ourselves, we are not a unit to be reconed with. We could always bring a lawsuit ie cival rights or neglegence..

The best defense is to learn self defense and the next time a bum ask you for money or attacks you, you beat the hell out of him!!

  • victim

to the ignorant angry mom so how should we ge home? If we live there then how should we get home? Would you ro the other inrested partys ever offer a ride? others may not have other options!!!

  • TZNIUS IS THE ANSWER

When this kind of crime was happening before the Rebbe MHM said that we need to be more careful in our tznius. and obviously we dont need to look to far to see that this still applies in a major way. Parents children need to be told what to do and guided.

  • Enough is Enough

It sincerely feels like we have to take the ranks @ 1 police plaza to task. Dont we pay taxes. Where are they?

Well, "concerned parent," I guess those blocks of President and New York, and Eastern Pkwy. and New York are now "extended areas of C.H.," where you "cannot understand why ANYONE would be walking those areas at 11.30pm; You’re just asking for trouble."
(See the news reports one week later!)
