And Then the Lights Went Out

Weather last night showed no mercy as the Red Heifers faced The Tribe in an angst-filled match-up. The Tribe connected often and early, jumping to a wide-margin lead by the 3rd inning. As the rain created hazards at every turn on the field, runners were challenged to maintain their footing.

Two dedicated, popcorn-wielding fans braved the elements.

Despite the shower, the grounds crew was never called onto the field. By the 4th inning, with the score 13-0, the Red Heifers found themselves in a deep hole, but the rain was letting up and visibility was improving. As batter by batter stepped to the plate in the 5th inning, the Heifers regained their composure and the scoring began.

By the 5th inning, the Red Heifers had scored 4 runs. The momentum had shifted.

And then the lights went out.

The game was suspended at 13-4 due to sudden darkness and players returned to their respective clubhouses feeling a bit dejected, reflecting on the game that could have been.
