Witness Chases Cell Phone Thief, Recovers Phone

A man was knocked to the ground and robbed of his cell phone while walking down Montgomery Street Sunday evening, witnesses called Shomrim while another chased the thief and managed to recover the cell phone.

The incident occurred on Montgomery Street between Albany and Kingston Avenues at around 8:30pm. One witness told CrownHeights.info that he saw the attacker shove the victim to the ground in what he thought was a ‘knockout’ type assault.

This was not the case, as was later confirmed by Shomrim. “The victim was robbed and his cell phone was stolen” a Shomrim coordinator said, adding that one of the witnesses chased the perpetrator and in the process managed to recover the phone but not apprehend him.

Searches and patrols by both the police and Shomrim were unsuccessful in locating the thief, though a police report was filed.

The thief was described as a Black teenager, around 17 years old, medium build and average height, wearing dark pants and brown hoodie.

    That is really the most ridiculous comment I have ever heard in my life. So police should chase every person wearing a hoodie? My husband wears a hoodie (of course because its been really cold) so the police should chase after him? You know your comment is full of ignorance and you should really think before you speak
