Friday Night Burglar Strikes Again

Late Friday night at about 4:30am, a Crown Heights resident woke up feeling little thirsty. He went downstairs to get a cup of water; as he descended he thought he heard some strange noises, but he chalked it up to the old age of the house and didn’t give it too much thought.

The next morning, the family awoke to find that the house – located on Union St. between Kingston and Brooklyn Ave. – had been robbed. Several phones, laptops and other electronics were missing, along with valuable jewelry and their entire display cabinet of silverware. The back door of the house was ajar.

The only item of value remaining in sight was the family’s large silver candelabra, though several of its glass cups had been removed and placed on the table.

The family surmised that the thieves were in the midst of taking their final – and most valuable – piece of loot, when they heard the father’s footsteps and escaped through the back door.

Luckily, one of the stolen iPhones had an anti-theft app installed that remotely determined its location. The app said the phone was located at an address in the vicinity of Albany Ave. and Park Place.

The family called Shomrim, who accompanied them to the address, which turned out to be a pawn shop. They went inside and questioned the owner, but he denied any knowledge as to the whereabouts of the missing phone or any of the other stolen items.

The police were notified of the incident, and detectives arrived at the home to collect testimony and evidence.

The police said they believe the culprit is connected to the rash of Friday night robberies that have been occurring in Crown Heights Jewish homes since the early summer. At CrownHeights.info’s count, this represents the 10th such robbery. Previous incidents can be read about herehereherehere and here.

And what’s scary is that DeBlasio won’t make things any better. He’s more like Dinkins and Koch.

People just have to invest in an alarm system ADT is only $30 a month. They may have shabbos timers have to ask.

  • "A OUNCE OF PREVENTION"

THERE ARE MANY STEPS THAT RESIDENTS CAN TAKE AS A DETERRENT TO BREAK INS. I DRIVE THRU THE ALLEYS OF OUR NEIGHBERHOOD AND SEE OPEN GATES, LACK OF LIGHTING IN BACKYARDS AND THE ALLEYS WHICH ARE OPEN INVITATIONS TO THESE PERPETRATORS.REGARDLESS OF THE TRUISM THAT THERE IS NO “SCHLOSS FOR A GONIFF “, THE HARDER YOU MAKE IT FOR YOUR HOME TO BE A VICTIM, THE LESS CHANCE YOU HAVE TO BE A VICTIM. DON’T WAIT FOR AFTER THE FACT TO ANALYZE YOUR SECURITY MEASURES.

These beasts know that the community has certain customs and laws and they are hitting the community on Shabbos:

    A. Invest in an alarm system.

    B. Relocate your sliver and jewelry to a sate place.

    C. Have a phone with 911 already programmed and if one should wake up and hear these beasts – USE THE PHONE! Do not confront them, they could be armed!

#9 Get Real–you can sympahzise, but prevention is much better
#14 good advice, but do alarm the system or have a Shabbos timer to alarm the system. it is not good to have it off for Shabbos because that is when the perp will strike
also get a gun and learn how to use it as a last resort, you never know in Crown heights!!!!!
