Bar Bending Burglar Strikes Again

This past Friday night at about 4:45am, while a Crown Heights family was sleeping comfortably in their beds, a burglar broke into their home by bending the bars of the kitchen window and climbing through.

The burglar proceeded to steal items from the dining room, kitchen and guest room.

The fact that lights and air conditioners were on in the room he broke into did not deter the brazen thief, and security cameras show he spent almost an hour inside the house, calmly going from room to room and taking what he wanted.

On Motzei Shabbos an investigative team arrived from the 71st precinct, including: two officers, a supervisor, two detectives and two evidence collectors. They made it clear they were taking this crime very seriously, and would do everything in their power to catch the intruder.

A similar incident occurred to another Crown Heights family on a Friday night two weeks prior. Police believe it is almost certainly the same perpetrator.

Please remain vigilant and keeps all your windows locked at night as this man is very dangerous; he is capable of breaking through bars and doesn’t seem to worry about the fact that a home is occupied.

It would help to indicate roughly where this took place, like which block. Dwellers can then take more precautions because it gives an idea as to what type of home this thief can break into. It also gives an indication of the area he’s hunting in.

Too bad no one has invented a Shabbos alarm that can be programmed for Shabbos comings and going scare a perp off while providing protection–just the alarm going off can scare him away.
I believe he strikes Friday night because he knows that the Yidden will not set their alarm because of Shabbos and Friday night is the window of opportunity.
My fear is that sometime in the night one of the occupants gets up and then confronts the intruder. 911 we know is useless and unless one has a gun and is willing to use to defend his family then better pray that you do no confront the burglar even if it is just by chance. My other fear is that if he so brazen will he just stop at taking things?

Those of you with the push-button combination locks should clean them every so often to remove the oil buildup from your fingers. All a thief has to do is blow some powder on the buttons, which will stick the most to the oily ones, and now he knows your numbers.

Just a word of warning: One of the biggest increases in major crimes have been home invasions often with resultant violence. You need to take precautions to protect your most valuable possessions–the family.
