Gunman on Bike Shoots Two Teens in Crown Heights

A gunman firing from the seat of a bicycle sprayed bullets at three teens outside a Montgomery Street apartment building Monday night, wounding two and leading to a stunning display of courage from the third.

The teens who were wounded — at 19-year-old hit in the back and a 13-year-old struck in the buttocks — were hospitalized after being rushed from the scene and were expected to survive, police sources said.

One of the wounded pair very likely owes his life to his friend, who pulled him from the sidewalk and dragged him into a building, sheltering him from the bicycle-riding would-be killer, a chilling surveillance video viewed by the Daily News showed.

The three young men were walking toward the front door of a building on Crown St. near Utica Ave. in Crown Heights about 8 p.m. when two men wearing dark hoodies and riding bicycles rolled by menacingly, the video, shot from a camera inside the building’s lobby, revealed.

Seconds later, the cyclists came back, clearly destined for trouble. One of them, riding a silver Mitsubishi Endeavor, whipped out a gun and unloaded on his teenage targets, witnesses said.

“The guy was right in front of me. He shot from the bicycle,” said a man who was at the scene and would only identify himself by his first name, Frank.

The trio on the receiving end of the bullets buckled under the fusillade of unforgiving lead, the video showed.

One of them, clad in black sweats and a black shirt, quickly yanked open the building’s front door and hobbled past the camera; he was obviously wounded, unable to put weight on one of his legs.

Seconds later, the camera showed the hero of the group entering the building, hauling behind him the other wounded teen, who is wearing a jean jacket and a black hat.

Once inside the building, the teen in the jean jacket can be seen on the video curling up into the fetal position. He then begins to vomit uncontrollably. As this happens, the friend who rescued him from the gunman broke down in sobs.

The wounded teens were taken to the emergency room of Kings County Hospital and were listed in stable condition Monday night, police said.

Investigators recovered a handgun at the scene, ditched underneath a car, as well as a bicycle. A witness said that at least one of the two suspects bolted east, toward Ford St. Police had not made a collar as of late Monday night.

Bloomberg said on his radio address on Sunday that only 5 ‘hoods have gun problems….CH, Bushwick & Brownsville were three of them.

  • this is insane

Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s plan to spend $12 million on ads meant to pressure senators into backing strict new gun control measures. He should spend his $ fixing the problems we have not trying to make new laws that destroy the Constitution. “The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

#5/11 You are3 wrong. it is not the guns but the people. Booze and cars do not kill people. It the person who drinks and gets drunk and drives that does the saterly deed. So lets ban booze and cars. Espe cially ban booze at shuls and farbringens.
