30 Bochurim Robbed in Brazen Dorm Burglary

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Today, Tuesday afternoon at about 2:45pm a Black man posing a janitor managed to steal over $5,000 worth of valuables from the Oholei Torah dorm. The man casually walked into the dorm, through the front door and started roaming the hallways.

He was seen roaming the building with a mop in hand, pretending to clean the hallways. He was actually looking for open dorm rooms with cash laying around and anything he can fit on his person. He managed to get away with over $5,000 in cash and other valuables, like iPods and cellphones.

Most of the Bochurim were in seder and did not know that they were robbed. They were alerted to the robbery later on and checked on their things.

The police were called no more then twenty minutes after the incident. However after waiting for over an hour for police, they called Shomrim for help.

Shomrim had police respond and helped gather information needed for the report. A very detailed report was taken by police, making a list all items and monies stolen.

Shomrim along with some Bochurim reviewed the surveillance video and identified a possible suspect. The suspect was identified as “Yaya”, a janitor in the Oholei Torah’s Misevta on Troy Ave and has been employed there for almost a year and a half.

Police, Shomrim and the Bochurm then went down to Troy Ave, where they arrested the suspect.

    Have you noticed that whenever we are busy with machloykes the garbage comes out to hurt us? If we had Achdus we’d be vigilant & worrying about safety etc, & these lowlives wouldn’t be able to do what they do so well. Until yesterday things have been quiet B”H here.

    in otm this guy yaya was seen going in to a bochurs blazer when no one was looking however the bochur of the owner to the blazer saw him yaya rite away pulled out his hand he told it to the princapl but………. this has been going on for a long time he even faught with bochurim in yeshiva thank gd that it was about time he was caught all the bochurim on troy ave r so happy even the other 2 janitors they never liked him.

    It’s about time OT gets proper security at the yeshiva buildings. And the workers all need to be in uniform with phot id’s so we know who’s really working there.

    To: A concerned parent. It’s all a conspiracy. Hanhalah sent the guy to take whatever is not allowed in the dorm. As for the bocherim, you prevail just as you always do. You found the guy, you’ll get your stuff back and once again be able to do all the things hanhalah forbids. Good for you. You prevailed.
