A great man and a heart of gold. A true Ohev Yisroel, dedicated to helping others in need. He was a dear and beloved friend of my dad obm. I recall as a young child, when my dad would shop in the East Side for clothing for us kids and seforim for the yeshiva library. He would deposit the boxes and bags of good at Reb Leib’s store in the East Side so that we wouldn’t have to shlep them home on the numerous buses. Reb Leib would not only bring them into Brooklyn, but would hand deliver them to our home in East Flatbush and would not allow my father to lift the boxes.

    Dear Rabbi Shlomo,
On behalf of the Oak Park Jewish community, we wish to send our condolences to you and your family for the loss of your dear father. we all mourn the passing of your father with great sorrow. Our community has lost a great learned scholar, true Chassid, Rabbi Leibel Bistritzky. We have lost great rabbi today, however, his wisdom, goodness and kindness will live forever in all whose lives he touched. Many people are deeply saddened to learn that Rabbi Leibel Bistritzky is no longer with us. He was a bright light in a dim world and he will be missed very much. Our prayers are with you and your family.
“המקום ינחם אתכם בתוך שאר אבלי ציון וירושלים ולא תוסיפו לדאבה עוד”.
