Cops Crash En Route to Emergency

A police cruiser was involved in a accident while responding to an emergency, the officers along with the driver of the second vehicle were injured.

The accident occurred at around 12:00pm in the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Schenectady Avenue. According to multiple eyewitnesses the police car had its lights on and sirens blaring and proceeded through the intersection on a red signal.

The cruiser collided with an SUV forcing it up onto the sidewalk and into a traffic signal pole.

EMS treated both officers and transported them to a local hospital, the driver of the SUV was treated and transported as well. None of the injuries are considered to be serious.

    I never know what direction the sirens are coming from. I’m always terrified this will happen to me ‘cos I hear them way before I see them & at that point, they’re almost on top of me.

    #2- that’s why the law requires you to pull over when you hear the sirens – not when there on top of you.

    actually the law requires police to stop at the red light first before continuing through..
