First Ever Chassidic Wedding in Northern Palm Beach County

Boynton Beach, FL — The dancing and unbridled joy of the participants at the klezmer playing wedding of a Chassidic couple, is said to be unmatched.

Hours upon hours, to a seven piece band, the groom and bride, dance the night away with community members, family, friends and relatives. This wedding is considered the greatest joy known to Judaism.

Tuesday Evening, June 5, at 7:00 PM, Chabad-Lubavitch of Greater Boynton Beach hosted this historic event. The traditional Chuppah was held outdoors on Chabad’s gorgeous campus, under the open sky and stars of the heavens. Thus, symbolizing the multitude of blessings which are being bestowed upon the new couple, alike the innumerable stars.

Guests, friends, relatives flew in from all regions of the world to join this pinnacle of happiest moments for the respective families and their children.

Rabbi Sholom Ciment, Spiritual Leader of Chabad-Lubavitch of Greater Boynton who officiated, commented that “this wedding takes on added significance as the bride is Devorah Kashanian, 20 years old and the eldest daughter of the late Dr. Bijan Kashanian, a renowned area cardiologist, who died suddenly at the our holiday table in the presence of his family and my family some 5 years ago.

Dr. Kashanian, of blessed memory, was one of the pioneering founders of Chabad. His daughter Devorah, felt it incumbent to bring the wedding to Boynton where her father’s dreams and inspiration for Judaism grew each day of his short 44 years.”

Although the outdoor Chuppah takes on a most serious tone, as 9 year old violinist Chaya Rivkah Ciment enchanted the assembled with solemn tunes of hundreds of years of Chassdic tradition, the procession, reading of the Ketubah, the blessings, and the placing of the ring on the bride under the canopy, which was the late Dr. Kashanian’s Tallis, ended with the smashing of a glass by the groom, Sholom Dov Ber Huber of St. Louis, Missouri. At that instant, the band struck a tune, the first of many lively ones, which went way into the night.

“Perhaps this joy, which was palpable on Dr. Kashanian’s everday contagious smile, will be the joy which will break through barriers, and bring only more expansion and fuller and further fulfillment of this very special Jew’s dreams for Chabad,” concluded the Rabbi.

Aside from Devorah, Mrs. Rochel Kashanian has an older son Jacob, Rivka and Dovid, who just celebrated his Bar Mitzvah. They were joined by their grandparents of Great Neck NY and many cousins and relatives.
