UConn Alumni Reconnect with Chabad

On Sunday, July 28, throngs of Jewish University of Connecticut (UConn) Alumni gathered in the home of Israeli UConn Soccer Star Dori Arad for an evening of dinner and entertainment with Chabad.

Dori Arad, UConn Soccer Star and president of UConn Jewish Alumni, and his wife Idit graciously hosted Chabad at UConn’s Annual Alumni Reunion this summer in their Manhattan apartment.

The event began with a meet & greet of sushi and refreshments, followed by a delectable dinner buffet and hilariously inspirational entertainment by Rabbi Simcha of Pratt Institute.

Dori related his introduction to the Hecht family at UConn.  “After a hard day of athletic training, I come out of the shower at 11pm to see a large plate of food from a Lag Ba’omer BBQ.

I couldn’t make it to the Holiday event, so the Rabbi naturally brought the joy to me.

From that time on, my perspective on Judaism changed forever”.

Mrs. Shaindel Hecht articulated her inspiration from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, with stories of his unconditional love for all mankind. She also thanked all present for their friendship and support.

The Hechts has been serving the Jewish students at UConn since 2005.
