The police pictured here are readying themselves for the Parade, which hosts over two million people in a celebration of music, dance, food, and more. The Museum was open to the police to refresh and use the facilities. So, as it turns out, New York’s Finest chooses, well…the finest!

I have nothing against this celebration – they tolerate simchas beis hashoiva we can tolerate a bit too however:

Large group of motorcyclist was riding on sidewalks of Kingston in the evening, creating very serious danger to people. I was walking with my two boys in the middle and barely had a chance to take a position along the wall. This is terrible.

Is it interesting that every year that this parade happens to "celebrate" West Indian culture a hurricane occurs the day after in the West Indies?

Interesting that so many streets can be closed off in one day – according to 1010WINS, Eastern Pkwy, Empire, Flatbush, Atlantic, and Ocean Avenue all were closed! (maybe not all day, but on and off?)
When we wanted to close EP and Empire for the Lag Bomer parade, we were told it was not "safe" to close 2 major thoroughfares at the same time
    HUH?
