    Now everyone repeat after me;
    “There is no inflation!”
    “There is no inflation!”

  • Someone please compete!

It sickens me that they are taking advantage of us. We need more competition in this industry to keep pricing down.
My wife baked challas this week due to the prices.

While I’m venting, let me also say that I also don’t feel any ‘achrayos’ to shop in many of the CH stores, also because of their ridiculous pricing. Why should we support Jews, who have no problem ripping us off. I can fin such huge discounts by pretty much going any where else.

Nothing justifies such pricing. I don’t believe in that whole inflation stuff…This is a 16.67% increase!

Wake up people- Don’t shop in Crown Heights. Why should we support local merchants when they make a crazy profit on our haed-earned money?

  • EK

Inflation is 3% a year. The raw ingredients cost the same as a year ago. This is just taking advantage of people who did not have time to make their own bread which anyone that looks at the real cost of the ingredients would do.

  • buy from the source for less

oh please all products are like that in empire kosher!!
for example salmon at bentzys cost 6.99 the same package will have a sticker over it reading $8.99 thats empire kosher for you

  • mendy e

the kollel selling it for 2.49 i got one today, empier kosher r way to expensive !! or try the kahan supermarket

  • Yesterdays 12 grain

Unbelievable!! In most places bread and baked goods go half price the next day!! The least they could have done is sell yesterdays bread at yesterdays price!! They could have waited for the fresh batch to raise the price!

  • M-lamed z-chus

Who says it went up 50 cents overnight? Maybe one of Glick’s workers accidentally mislabeled it and it had to be corrected with a new label.

  • DeClasse- Intellectual

there is an old phrase that states it all: “Let the buyer beware!” In an area where there is s captive audience and limited mobility plus the unmentioned pressure to support local business groups, this is to be expected. One way to drive the message home to them is to boycott that particular product and let them keep it. When I was growing up, there was a store bringing in produce that was bad, but the public continued to buy it because what other option do we have. Your option is to not to buy their bread and let them know that it can rot on their shelves because of their price gouging. If this message is not delievered, this will continue and the whinning will continue.

all u guys dont understand that the bread u buy is NOT BAKED IN CH so a: if u have a problom with the prices complain to the companies B: the merchents raise up the prices not b/c they want to but b/c the prices by them also go up its called inflation and it has nothing to do with the local shops but rather with the economy kosher food as we know it has always been expensive and will still go up due to the rising cost of almost everything so yes if u want u can go shop at the kollel store and it will be cheaper for that particular item, but the end result wont be cheaper b/c the time, energy, plus gas it takes u to go there will come out to be more expensive so yes u shop here in ch b/c of its convenience so go ahead and complain about raising prices but dont place the blame on the local stores rather on the providers who are supplying it.

  • sara CH

“ i have a idea” lets make a blog of deals and prices of food etc , so we know where to buy our food for a normal price AD MOSAI !!! when the gas prices r going down , non of the kosher food prices are going down, can some buddy explain this to me?

  • Inflation is FACT. Boruch- Crown Heights

Stop believing the propaganda that inflation is 3% a year. A bushel of wheat 10 years ago was $2.83. Today it’s $6.86. If inflation was 3%, it should have been trading today at 3.80. So wheat inflation was actually 9.25%. A gallon of gas 10 years ago was $1.34. Today it’s $3.44. Had gas gone up 3% a year it would have been $1.80 per gallon today. So gas inflation was actually 9.55%. These are facts.

Stop believing the propaganda that the government feeds you using their fraudulent CPI (consumer price index). Inflation reflects the amount of the expansion of the money supply, i.e. theft by the federal reserve. So to make an illusion that the theft is retail as opposed to wholesale, they place the inflation at 3% instead of commodity inflation which is really approximately triple that figure. Because a third world country always has lower prices, the more we become a third world country DUE TO BREATHTAKINGLY HIGH INFLATION, the lower prices fall on services and non-commodity goods, ONCE YOU ADJUST IT FOR INFLATION!

So in the future, when you want to measure inflation, don’t look at what Scrabble cost you ten years ago compared to today. Look at what commodities traded at ten years ago compared to its trading price today!

  • empire kosher

prices just keep on going up at empire ko$her. the same j&j yogurts that used to be 7oz are now 6oz and they STILL cost $1.05. plastic 9″ plates also went up 50 cents.

  • rosy

my point of view, you have a better places out there, you don’t have 2 shop only at empier kosher, we r not in Russia! they r a lots of store for better prices, like the kolel and more

  • Laundry Detergent

I buy my laundry detergent at Home Depot. I go from time to time and buy a few at once. Their everyday price for 150oz of liquid Tide is $19.99. At Empire Kosher they charge $27.99.

  • ZALMAN

  • check the label

If you look carefully, the label underneath says 6 Grain, so it was a mistake. this must be the correct price for 12 Grain.

  • Yossi

To 29 how can you see that? Kahan is selling 12 grain for 2.79 you r welcome to check by Kahan

  • What About the vegetables?

can someone explain to me why in crown heights asparagus costs 4 dollars a pound while on the upper west side YES UPPER WEST SIDE it sells for 2 dollars per pound.

  • Itzik Avenue

Empire kosher has become the biggest rip off in all of Brooklyn. I picked up a a 96 oz of canola oil, the price was $14.69 !!!in Kollel its $8.49
Hellmans Mayo for a small 30 oz its $6.49 in Kollel its $4.79
Cheerios is $5.49 in EK in Kollel $3.99
Shame on all the leaders that dont speak out against Itzik Avenue

  • Lo hakol tuv

Kol Tuv was never cheap either – but the question is why?

Is it profiteering or is it that Itzik Benabou has so many bad credit accounts in these hard times (and he probably also carries a few moisdos that are known for never paying on time or in full even when times are good).

I do not know for sure, but something tells me he has a lot of headache accounts on his books, some of which can pay but don’t and some of which are real chessed cases.

  • Chaim

To 32 thank you for your short list of item , please tell us more , “so we can save more”

  • amazon dad

I use amazon subscribe and save for 15 pct discount plus a “prime free shipping subscription” to save on paper goods, diapers, wipes. I analyze the per diaper, wipe, tissue, toilet paper square price and if its close to or better than costco, kollel store etc (and empire kosher kal v’chomer), than I go for it. The convenience of home drop off is aweseome, no more shlepping or late night diaper and wipe hunting! Plus 3 pct back on my amazon card Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

  • coop formula

guys, you can get all your fresh produce and just about everything else kosher except for fleish and milchigs at the park slope food coop. yes, it’s a little bit of headache to do your monthly workshift – usually takes me about 2 hours a month per adult, but the cost is 15% over wholesale. Compare that to the 60% over wholesale, and savings are large. If you’re now spending $400 a week on non milk/meat groceries, you would be spending $287 a week at the coop. Thats $5,850 a YEAR in savings. plus, the produce is awesome and the selection

  • What me Worry?

Look at the label underneath.. It says 6 grain. The Bread went from 6 grain to 12 grain and they only raised the price %16. What a deal!!! That’s a savings of %34!!
