Mordechai Goldin Remembered at First Yohrtzeit

Hundreds gathered to mark the first Yohrtzeit of Reb Mordechai Goldin, OBM, a beloved friend and Yeshiva bus driver who had positively impacted many.

Family and friends gathered Thursday evening to mark the first Yohrtzeit of Reb Mordechai Goldin, OBM, who passed away at the age of 59 after battling an illness.

Packing into the hall in Lubavitcher Yeshiva, hundreds heard stories and shared their memories of Mordechai – from his time in Yeshiva in Morristown to his time in Camp Gan Israel inspiring children.

“My parents had no connection to Judaism and were going to send me to a non-religious overnight camp,” one related, “when Mordechai heard this he implored my parents to change their minds and ultimately they did and it was my first connection to Judaism, which ultimately ignited my Jewish spark.”

Illustrating how much he impacted people, Terry Spiers, the UPS driver who would ultimately act as Shadchan for his son, Zevi Goldin, told of times that Mordechai helped him by always offering a hand or a drink.

A video presentation showcased dozens of personal stories on how Mordechai impacted people in so many different ways.

Moshe Goldin, Mordechai’s son, related a Dvar Torah, followed by words of inspiration from Rabbi Shlomo Galperin which continued into a Farbrengen that lasted for hours.
