Huh? A teenager actually waiting for vacation to end? Is that a misprint?

Two years ago I would have thought so too. But A lot has changed for me since then. Here is my story (the short version).

Op-Ed: Why can’t the summer be over already?

Huh? A teenager actually waiting for vacation to end? Is that a misprint?

Two years ago I would have thought so too. But A lot has changed for me since then. Here is my story (the short version).

For the majority of my school years I was the quiet little girl in the corner. Every now and then I would make some friends, only to have them leave me for more popular girls. I behaved well and did well scholastically so the teachers pretty much left me alone. Really alone. And that’s how I thought all my school years would go.

Then Bnos Chomesh High School opened and my life changed. I came to the school with only one friend, but found there the most amazing group of girls. And an incredible staff. In a short time at school I gained many more friends than I had ever had before. I discovered talents I never knew I had, all the while discovering the person I never knew I could be. After a few short weeks I actually began to enjoy coming to school. My friends who were not at Bnos Chomesh watched as I transformed into a happier version of myself. I have only Mrs. Gorkin, my teachers, and my wonderful classmates to thank for this great change in my life. If not for this incredible place I would still be sitting in the back of the classroom in some other school waiting for the year to be over.

The cool thing is, Bnos Chomesh includes all the regular school things – we learn lots of limudei kodesh subjects, we take regents, tests, do reports, but in our school it just doesn’t seem so regular. Everyone is there to help each other – we’re all on the same team. they all REALLY care – and that’s what makes all the difference. And the extras like art and music are something that most of us really look forward to.

I am entering my third year at Bnos Chomesh. IY”H in June I will graduate. I never thought I’d say this, but I can’t wait for school to start! And believe it or not, all of my classmates feel the same way. And while I feel happy and secure where I am right now, I know that there are hundreds of girls like me out there who need someone to stop “leaving them alone.” So whether you are the person who runs a school or teaches in it, you can change the lives of girls like me if you tune into them the way the people in my school do. Even if you don’t teach at all, but you know someone my age who feels a little lost and you can you can make a difference in their life. Try it. Someone like me is waiting for your help.

    Just a little CORRECTION:

The Bnos Chomesh site is outdated…I think it would be a good idea to un-link it

  • phone number

I tried the number you gave and it is not correct. I did some digging and I found out that the area code is wrong. It is 262-SCHOOL-1.

  • Wish that i attended that school

I have a friend who goes there. She is really excited to go back. Its an amazing school for everyone. We might not notice it but around 80% or more of children in schools feel rejected and unpopular. That’s something that isn’t normal. I know Bnos Chomesh avoids this problem and therefore I give it a A+ rating over all the other schools. Keep Up your awesome work Bnos Chomesh catering to both EMOTIONS and education. I have been in two crown heights schools and both were miserable years.
