Boruch Dayan Hoemes: R. Shimon Goldman, 91, OBM

With sadness we inform you of the passing of Rabbi Shimon Goldman OBM of Crown Heights, at the age of 91.

Born on Hey Teves 5686 [1925] in the city of Shedlitz in Poland. He was the son of Shmuel Zanvil and Kraindy Goldman.

When the war broke out he managed to flee Poland for Russia and tragically was the only survivor of his family. He had four brothers and two sisters, all of whom were killed.

From Russia he made his way to China and ultimately Shanghai, where he met a number of his childhood friends who had also managed to flee the war. There he sat in the famouse Chabad yeshiva for five years and learned.

He arrived in the Unites States in 1945 and met his wife, Esther Goldman OBM, daughter of the legendary Chosid, Reb Yochonon Gordon, OBM, the Gabbai of 770 for many years until his passing in 1969.

Together with his wife they ran the Gmach Shomrei Shabbos, which was established by the Frierdiker Rebbe and run by her father Reb Yochonon.

He was also a longtime member of Agudas Chasidei Chabad, served as a member of the Vaad of Beis Rivkah and was the president of Mosdos Day Care Center.

He is  survived by his children Rabbi Yossy Goldman, Shliach in Johannesburg, South Africa; Mrs. Kraindy Klein and Rabbi Shmuly Goldman, both of Crown Heights.

He is predeceased by his wife Esther, who passed away in 2013, and their daughter Mrs. Chana Leah (Chanchy) Bruk, OBM, who passed away in 2010.

The Levaya will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, 10:45am at Shomrei Hadas and passing by 770 at around 11:45am.

May all the holy “Malochim” created by both his and his wife’s many acts of Chesed proceed before him, and remove all obstacles on his path to “Gan Eden”.
