Another Shipment to the Disaster Area

ICA, Peru [CHI] — On Tuesday three bochurim flew from Lima, Peru to Ica bringing food, clothes and water that was donated by the local Jewish community to the Chabad House with a lot of freshly baked goods. The baked products were baked in the Chabad House in Lima headed by Rabbi S.Z. Blumenfeld, and were sent to be distributed to the people of Ica and Pisco that were affected by the eqarthquake this past Thursday.

Upon landing in Ica they went straigt to the house of Mr David Beyer, an American Jewish buisnessman who resides in Ica and also represents the Human rights watch. The bochurim spoke with him a while and left with him some of the food and clothes to distribute via his
organizatian.

Afterwards the bochurim continued to the house of Mr Robert Niederman, an elderly Jew of French origin, who has lived in Ica for many years and is a renowned international expert winemaker.

Mr Niederman put put on Tefillin and heard the shofar for the first time in many years, and was given the oppurtunity to watch the latest segment of “Living Torah” with French subtitles.

Afterwards, Mr Niederman put at the disposal of the bochurim a pickup truck with some workers to help distribute the food and clothes throughouit the sourrounding area which had been ravaged by the earthquake

The bochurim then continued to the town of Pisco which had been hit much harder by the earthquake and distributed food throughout some of the temporary shelters for the newly homeless.
