New SNAP, Medicaid NYC Site Helps Maintain Access to Food and Healthcare
As changes to requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Medicaid continue to impact access to benefits across the country, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is trying to help residents navigate the changes and find resources.
The new SNAP and Medicaid Resources website, launched on Tuesday, is aimed at helping New Yorkers navigate the latest federal work requirements, determine whether they qualify for exemptions and maintain access to food assistance and healthcare.
By filling out a questionnaire, New Yorkers can determine whether they still qualify for SNAP and Medicaid or if they need to take additional steps to remain eligible. For those who may no longer qualify, they’ll be able to find SNAP and Medicaid hotlines, food banks, job boards, approved volunteer opportunities and other care options.
