NY Declares State Disaster Emergency Over Measles Outbreak in Rural Communities

Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state disaster emergency on Monday after a surge in measles cases across rural New York and nearby states.

Hochul issued the executive order to allow the state to respond swiftly to the measles outbreak and allow healthcare professionals to vaccinate more New Yorkers against the highly contagious disease.

As of Saturday, there have been seven confirmed cases in New York City and 101 cases in the rest of the Empire State this year.

    We dont care and leave us alone.
    We’ll do far better figuring things out on our own without gvt control.
    The health department messed up so bad during covid that the trust is completely gone.

    First of all, those of us old enough to remember, we had measles as did our siblings. Second of all, instead of trying to put people into a panic, why doesn’t the medical community suggest to parents methods to treat their child that comes down with measles symptoms.
