After speaking to some people about the recent ticket blitz in Crown Heights, someone told me that there was a quota of 100 tickets that the police had to meet and the 770 intersection. While someone else with influential connections to the police dept. claims he has had the officers camping out in front of 770 dismissed from that location.

But this cant be right, people were being pulled over all over the neighborhood not just in front of 770. And for some strange reason most of the “violators” were Frum Jew’s.

And I have heard that the reason there was a quota on that intersection is that there is a lot of accidents there. Now I ask can someone please tell me if they remember a serious accident there in recent history?! Well I can tell you this much if you look at this Sunday’s news you will see a MAJOR accident with INJURIES down at the Troy Ave. and Empire Blvd. intersection, then go 2 more weeks back and you will see another serious accident that took the police THIRTY MINUTES to respond to and FDNY took 15 minutes while there was an injured motorist lying on the street waiting for help.

I can go on and on about “preferential treatment” that the black’s are claiming we are getting over them. Is this one of them? Or is it the reverse?

first of all, maybe the reason that most of the motorists being pulled over around here are jewish is because 8/10 PEOPLE IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD ARE! and the reason it took the cops over 30mins is because the cops have bigger priorities then to take notes at a car accident, could be they were busy with an assualt or something. on the other hand, FDNY should not have taken more then 4mins to arrive.

at 3am i dont think there were bank heists going on, when i passed the police station i saw 7 markd cars parked and 3 unmard and 2 scooters.

  • did you know?

TO WEBBY: k so first of all, those cars that you saw parked at the police station… they stay parked untill the people from the next shift come to take them out. there is no one at the police station who is supposed to be driving those parked cars during those hours. if they need back up, the officers behind the desk dont just decide "oh lets take the patrol cars parked here". it doesn’t work that way. whatever is parked, stays parked untill ITS shift. 2nd, you said that you dont think there are bank heists at 3am… first of all i didnt say that (the truth is, there could be someon trying to break into a bank or get into an ATM but thats a different story) there are not alot of cops out overnight (like u said, u saw 7 marked cars at the station) so it could be they did not have any available units. and again, it is not a priority. if two calls come in, one is a violent dispute, and one is a traffic accident then for a cop the dispute is a higher priority then the accident. thats why i said FDNY should have taken no more then 4mins to arrive.
one more thing: you ask if anyone knows of a serious accident occuring on eastern parkway and kingston… (in front of 770). well i do. two weeks ago or so, there was a bad car accident right in front of the museum. they had COPS and EMS on scene in a very short amount of time. AND this was after 11pm.
im not sticking up for the NYPD or EMS im just letting you know of some facts. (and for the record, i know of -personally because i was there- of three major car accident with people hurt occuring on eastern parkway and albany ave, maybe thats why the cops were there). and you know what, maybe they put police by that intersection (in front of 770) for our own protection…. there is a very dense volume of people (frum jews mostly) who are in and around 770 -24/7. maybe they did it so that cars would see the police and not drive recklessly on albany ave and eastern parkway!
i think i said enough, now its your turn lol.

Since this is something that really bothers me as a motorist I am going to peruse the matter with you even further.

I personally have photo documented more the 4 SERIUSE accidents on Eastern Pkwy. and Albany Ave. and if you want I will publish them, but so far all I am hearing is ONE SINGLE major accident in front of 770 which is the Eastern Pkwy. And Kingston Ave. intersection, and even that I don’t know about and all I am going on is what you are saying.

BUT, take a look in the past month and a half in this sites archive and you will see 3 photo documented accidents on the Empire Blvd. and Troy Ave. intersection all of which had more then just minor injuries.

About the cars parked in front of the station, I walk (and drive) allot past the station and I see allot of times MARKED cars coming and going. Now it makes allot of sense to me that the car operate on shifts but all im saying is that I do see them coming and going.

And in general as a hobby I listen to the police frequencies and a 3am what you hear allot is "disputes" "disorderly conduct" now don’t get me wrong im not saying that the police have nothing to do, it was just that one particular incident that I think should have supracceded most of which had been going on. I must mention that during the time I was on the since trying to figure out for myself what had happened a single police car went flying by in the wrong lane of traffic with lights and sirens blaring, so yes it is possible that there was something more important going on, but I still think the police should have had someone there sooner then 30 mins. But regardless of that, say 4 calls came in at the same time don’t we have enough units to cover both the "violent disputes" and the "accident with injuries"? Or am I supposed to think we are understaffed? (If you search the site about officer assignations you will find that when they were adding officers to the stations around the 5 boroughs you will find that we had only 6 more assigned to us, do we need more?)

About the cops being there for our protection, I don’t know who you are and what you do really know about 770 but when a car is posted outside 770 that car never moves (the reason is simple it has a job and it doesn’t move from there)… let alone pulls over 8 motorists within 20 mins. So it is very safe to assume that these 2 officers that were pulling over motorist were NOT there for our protection. and about the fact that these people were actually violating traffic laws I don’t deny that, if you go and fallow a single driver for an extended period of time you will be able to pick him up on something wrong. All you have to do is look.

so, how do you fight one of those "I pulled you over because I had a quota to fill" tickets? Is there a way? Or just pay it? (say a seatbelt, or cell phone)

  • me

The only major accident that I know took place at the 770 intersection is a cop hitting a rabbi crossing the parkway like 2 years ago

  • your self centered

why dont u self centered people cry about all the ticket spots in the black neighborhoods of crown heights, try talking on ur phone by rogers and empire or making a right turn by franklin and flatbush, not to mention the out of area help giving tickets on flatbush care of bstf

The only time that it takes our wonderful FDNY more than 4 minutes to arrive at an emergency scene is when the 911 gives them the wrong location or does not immediately report the emergency to the FDNY dispatchers (by the Botanical Gardens). 911 calls are all answered first by NYPD dispatchers (at 1 police plaza) and there is often a delay notifying FDNY. If you don’t see the firemen showing up within four minutes of dialing 911, you need to make a complaint to the fire commissioner. Maybe then the ancient 911 "system" will be modernized to rival the very efficient systems in other parts of the U.S.
