Missing Crown Heights Hikers Located

Dani Cole and Mendy Losh have made contact with family members and friends early this morning after being out of touch since Friday afternoon. Saturday a massive earthquake struck near the capital of Nepal and claimed the lives of over 2,000 people including three Americans.

“No one spoke with them, but they are at the base of a mountain with barely any communications and early this morning they finally managed to get messages out” said Yitzy Cole, Dani’s brother. “They are currently at the Everest Base Camp and every so often are able to get a message out.”

Dani’s first message to his family read “Thank G-d we are fine, just got [cell] service for the first time in many days.” A second message read “Thanks for your concern, we are fine.”

Cole, who is the captain of the Crown Heights Softball teams sent the following message to his team “It’s going to take more than a once in an 81 year earthquake to stop us from winning the softball championship.”

Due to the treacherous terrain Losh and Cole will have to get a helicopter to take them back down the mountain, then they will need to locate a commercial flight in order to return home.
