Friday Night Assault In Crown Heights Being Investigated As Hate Crime

The assault in Crown Heights that left a bochur’s glasses broken and injuries to his face is being investigated by the NYPD as a possible hate crime.

The NYPD put out a request for information Sunday along with a video of the suspect, taken outside the Beis Chaya Mushka School where the attack took place.

As previously reported on CrownHeights.info, the bochur – later identified as being 21 years old – had been walking on Carroll Street approaching Troy Ave around 1:20am Friday night, when he was approached by a deranged looking man.

Video footage from a nearby building shows as the man approaches the bochur, crouching down and acting erratic before punching him in the face.

The bochur fled towards Troy Ave, having had his glasses broken and receiving a laceration to his face. His attacker ran away from the scene, and entered a nearby building.

No words were exchanged and the motive behind the attack is remains known, but the NYPD has sent the investigation to its Hate Crimes Task Force, who are investigating as a possible hate crime.
