touching video, especially the end. thanks for sharing. I think it’s interesting to point out that even though the frumma invoked Torah to explain his good act, lots of people did the same thing. maybe humans don’t need religion to behave correctly after all.

    • Dont be a fool

Morality is a religious duty. Do you think people don’t steal because of Obama? He is the biggest thief of them all.

to “don’t be a fool” – you did not respond to anything I wrote. you see that “reply” button you clicked on? don’t use it unless you are replying. its very simple.

I have seen a few episodes of this show and it’s amazing how many people WILL do the right thing or speak up if an injustice is being committed. I guess there’s hope for the world yet.

What the yid did & said was inspiring and a kiddush hashem.
What was most impressive, was the homeless woman who despite all of her tzoros returned it to the bank. Given her circumstances, nobody would have blamed her for takng the 50 bucks.
She pointed at her upbringing by her mother as the reason she couldn’t take it.
Chinuch is truly a powerful thing.

  • Ch'er

    american asian african
    black white Caucasian,

almost all went into the bank to deposit it,

however, Fred (the orthodox Jew) definitely as he explained, nothing goes unnoticed for there is someone always watching from above.

thank you for publicizing this, much better then the other bad news or garbage we’ve seen lately, a breath of fresh air

    thank you CHI

This show is so pathetic! An yeah how about a kiddush Simone even though she didn’t mention a mitzvah or higher power. This shows that most people are good not just us frumeh.

Moved me to tears! that a woman like her, being in the unbelievable situation that shes in, homeless!! STILL wouldnt dream of keeping the money!! restores your faith in mankind, mind blowing! Can someone help find her a job? I’m sure ‘What would YOU do’ would know where to find her, they seemed to recognize each other. How amazing would that be! you dont get many like her in the world today

  • Kidush Humanity

They be not so different after all

we all da same white black color jew not jew god no god….

כל חסד שוה”ע עושין אינן אלא להתייהר

  • easy but

its easy to return the money when there is a name on it

how about leaving a cell phone on the subway and see if it gets returned

    • "not half full but half empty"

And its the media who gets to decide which half it is.

how the video editors cut and paste segments to paint a coherent story that will sell. They could have easily included all the clips of all those people who claimed finders keepers and יאוש שלא מדעת

הלוואי our “mechanchim” would use such material in their classrooms when teaching (!?) about טביעת עין in אלו מציאות

  • I don't get it

It’s a big ‘kiddush hashem’ when a Jew does a decent thing??????
It’s the decent thing to do, like all the other people proved. It degrades torah and yiddishkeit when we
mnake a big deal of what every normal decent person does and we say ‘wow – look w hat a jew did!’
I just say thank g-d the frum guy didn’t keep it and make a terrible chilul hashem! It’s good to know there re decent yiden too.

nisht azoi! The “hava amina” of most people would be that a person would take the fifty dollars. Any exhibiion of behvior that disputes that is laudible.

  • HUMONGOUS kiddush lubavitch!!!!

mamash pirsumei nissa oy vee eech shlep nachas

oy vee di goyim velen unz leeb huben miDarf Zei vaisen as mir zeinen geeteh yeedin un mir zeinen nisht roytzchim ואיש את רעהו חיים בלעו

    kiddush hashem!!!! gevald!!!!!!

  • who "DIDN"T" want it returned?

I question how ethical it is to set up secret cameras and expose a person’s true colors

and to trick sincere people into believing they fulfill a mitzVah, and then brainwashing the public about it

when in olam haEmes the mitzvah had never actually took place since the Avaida was never lossed in the first place. It never happened. I call this misleading reporting a mass brain washing.

  • The difference

Between a non new and a jew: the non new returns the money because that’s what their mind tells them is right and the best thing for them, and also because they feel inferior by stealing however should they be broke etc. then the right thing for them to do is to keep the money. on the other hand, the Jewish perspective is to return the money not because it’s right, but rather because that’s what god wants from us broke or not, wether it looks good in the eyes of the non jew or not

  • Jewish Mother

the frum Jew is the only one that emphasized G-D is watching. That’s the KIDDUSH HASHEM ! the others invoked their proper upbringing which is very good too.

  • THINKING Jewish Mother

    to Jewish mother,

if the jew was the only one to emphasized G-d is watching,

so then what would you explain to the youtube viewer who claims that since he did it out of fear of the wrath of an authoritarian god, who dictates commands, he didn’t do it out of genuine empathy for humanity, as the other people did.

  • Jewish Mother

if that viewer’s story of genuine feelings were told by someone who does as he says and were in fact genuine, he wouldn’t seize the opportunity to put down the Orthodox by mocking of a religious belief.

Since he did snarl at a Orthodox Jew, at the same time admiring a god he names “Genuine” and a god he calls “Feelings”, something tells me that such an atheist “moral system” changes by the day from compassion for animals to anger for humans like a pendulum’s never-ending mood swings.

The Orthodox Jew on the other hand behaved out of a constant, inescapable awareness that above him hovered a presence which was watching, thats why his behavior is consistent. And if his behavior is consistent than he is a trustworthy individual, certainly more trustworthy then those who osculate between extremes of and what they do (return money) to what they say (bad Jew), just as they swing between emotional outbursts of so called compassion and therefore return lost items to outbursts of rage and therefore vent at those who aren’t like him.

I prefer a religious belief who’s honesty doesn’t have two faces.

  • honesty

I cant believe it what a Kiddush hashem someone can possibly make on abc NEWS im so proud of all these honest people these days especially the jew & homeless women hashem should bless them
