Can’t we have stuff on this website that is appropriate?! This isn’t stuff for Chassidim to perform or watch. Yes, I have a sense of humor. But there’s a difference between this letzonus meant for mass consumption with no educational or spiritual value, but possibly even detrimental, and something with a purpose of some type. This stuff is pathetic.

    • Ex CH'er

I actually liked it. For all you haters, get a sense of humor. He was not makin fun of the torah, rather he was stressing the point that G-d was TESTING avraham, and the joke was that what if he was testing Avraham with the circumsiosion. classic mohel joke, LOVED IT!!!!

    • Youre totally right

Yes. We should keep this site to simply promoting the amazing deeds of the amazing shluchim and no one else. I mean, why should a chabad news website promote anything other than being a shill for shluchim to discuss how great they are.

    • It's for us here farmers

What do you expect from us farmers?! Us farmers need some jentertainment after hosting guest to the shluchim convention to which we were uninvited and therefore uninspired.

  • outrageous!!

This is a chillul Hashem b’poyel mamosh.

Please remove this immediately, it has no place in any self respecting site- this is not an issue of “being soo chassishe” of ‘farfrumt”. It is worse than anything that any mocking apikoress ever wrote.
If you don not believe me,please do as any yire shomayim would do and ask your local orthodox rabbi.

  • elimeyer

So now CHI is supporting making fun of our Holy Torah??? I fail to see how distorting Torah for parody furthers the Rebbe’s Hafotzas haTorah? I’m willing to listen to an explaination.

  • Pity

Mendy, please learn to control your unquenchable thirst for attention or at least harness it in a positive way. This garbage shtick is embarrassing to you and does nothing to help the Jewish people. If you need therapy to work out childhood issues or whatever, there are places that will help you gratis. The whole world doesn’t need to see you act out, not at your age.

  • Shmuel

    Not impressed at all!
Very surprised that CH info agreed to show this, especially when our kids see the mockery too, and its anything but funny! extremely sad actually, should be removed straight away from the site

  • Equal Time for Matisyahu

Matisyahu’s music videos would be more appropriate than these comedy videos. How about giving him at least equal time here? Say what you want about Matisyahu, I’m not aware that he ever mocked the Torah in the manner that I see in this “comedy” piece. Actually, it’s more of a tragedy than a comedy.

  • susan

    Horrible, just horrible!
Somethings are just off limits for a comedian.
Editor, it’s you’re job to ensure that this material never reaches an audience.

  • Yossel

I think it should be called “Jew Naarish!” Not really funny, and definitely naarish. Non-religious Jews (such as comedians) have been doing this stuff for decades, but it isn’t accomplishing anything positive. Remember that the Rebbe wanted us to use technology to spread the true message of Torah!

  • REALLY?????

Explain to me pls the point of having a good laugh on the Torahs expense????
Do you not have any respect for yidishkeit?????

  • Outraged

What is Crown heights coming to if we can allow mocking of Torah on a site meant for Lubavitchers!! Absolutely horrible!

  • my two cents

Mendy, I’m a friend of yours, but in this video, you let your brand and more importantly – yourself down.

  • medicinal cannabis

I know they sell it on every street corner in Cali but I think you’re a little too hooked on the stuff

  • lightenup

You guys are just taking this too serious. I think it is great. Loosen up a bit. You are too uptight.
    Learn to laugh a bit.
Remember, laughter is the best medicine!

  • CHer

I loved the video and think everyone with the bad comments have the problem, They are the same people that got Matisyahu to fry out. People got to relax and take everything with a grain of salt. Don’t blame him for making good educational videos that not yet frum or goyim will watch. complain to crownheights.info for posting it up. Go Mendy and Make the Rebbe Proud.

  • Are you serious?!

Please Tell me when the joke comes because I also want to laugh!!!
    Unfortunately this has NO comedy.
    NO educational value
the picture IS graphic with a knife on his throat….(still different when the Torah says it…)
    Avraham did NOT hesitate….
The story has no resemblance to the Chumash and yet worse….

  • wow! settle down gentleman. pls.

you ppl are pathetic and sad. granted, you may ask why this particular website, catering to an audience dominated by Frum, Chasidic, (and visibly a bit closed minded) individuals, had to post this video. but to complain, mock, and shriek about the video itself… please, get a life. or a hobby.

  • Wow

Big time- do not like this. From Cali, and open-minded,…this is sad that Lubby produced it. oyyy, had me cringing the whole time. Downright ikky! VERY disrespectful. Im happy my kids are too young to go on this site- and see sad junk.

  • no excuse

It is so easy to destroy and undermine with the cruel ax of mockery. This is what the Greeks and Hellenistic Jews did at the time of Chanukah. They were into parody and all that big time and convinced most of the Jewish population to abandon Judaism that way. It took open miracles to correct that. May G-d send us open miracles in our times. Let Him send His Redemption and then all will believe.

  • Not Offended

This isn’t making fun of the Torah. It’s a modern-day Midrash, and plays a critical role in keeping Judaism alive.

    • Citizen Berel

judiasm what has funny plays for midrash is not alive.

But we will survive funny plays.

    • Milhouse

There is no such thing as “modern-day Midrash”. Medrash is not a game, it’s not something that people made up, it’s the holy words of Chazal, and we are obligated to accept it as truth. (Not necessarily as literal truth, since midroshim are often not meant literally, but we are obligated to accept that the author’s intended meaning is Torah min hashomayim, just like the written Torah.)

  • Aaron

Speaking of a chassidish website. Recently saw this quoted on chabad.org:

“One should cast himself into a fiery furnace rather than shame his fellow in public”-Talmud, Sotah 10b

You can disagree with the content, but calling out the person publicly is infinitely more abhorrent than the video.

    • Wrong

Your way off base. He posted the video on YouTube for everyone to see. The whole point was to provoke a reaction, which he got. “Calling out” the person, as it were, was the result of his provocation.

Tell me: if someone acts like a fool, shames himself and Hashem, all to provoke a reaction from his fellow, are we not obligated to “call him out”? You can’t have it both ways.

  • Amazing video

Im amazed at the comments; I didnt realize we were living in Afganistan and controlled by the Taliban.

  • Superb Video

What is everyone kvetching about? This video is terrific, especially the week before Chanukah. It has all the right elements – letzonus, lack of tznius, and degradation of holiness and one big chilul Hashem.
Ah, too bad this wasn’t posted 2,000 years years ago. It would have made our job so much easier. We can hardly wait for the next ones.
    The Yevanim

  • Milhouse

The video is incredibly funny, but unfortunately it’s also sacrilegious, and should not be on a kosher web site, let alone a Lubavitcher one. The ovois are not objects of fun. האבות הן הן המרכבה, they were not ordinary people.

Does anyone recall how upset and outraged the Rebbe was when a prominent Rosh Yeshivah joked that Yitzchok Ovinu favoured Eisov because “he liked a good dinner”? The Rebbe publicly called this Rosh Yeshivah out, and said he had to take a minyan to Chevron to apologise before Rosh Hashonoh, because when Rosh Hashono comes one doesn’t want to be on bad terms with Yitzchok Ovinu. What do you think the Rebbe would say about this video? How do you think he would react?

    • Milhouse - Rebbe had a sense of humor

He outed a Rosh Yeshiva because a RY should not clown around. Mendy P is a clown and allowed to clown around. The Rebbe would give him a royal smile. (By the same token, i am sure the Rebbe would out Mendy P if he gave a pilpul shiyur in the sugya of tokfa cohen that made no sense).

    • Milhouse

That is garbage, and you know it. The Rebbe was outraged that anyone made such a joke about Yitzchok Ovinu. He was so upset about it that he dared to publicly condemn such a prominent person in such strong terms; kal vachomer a nobody like Mendy. Being a professional letz is not an excuse, it requires an excuse!

  • Aaron

@Wrong: Just because you’re “right” doesn’t give you the right.

He may have provoked some people, but it doesn’t give anyone the right to rag on him on a personal level (i.e., “control your unquenchable thirst for attention”)

Many sources (including, Mishnayos, Gemorah, Tanya) classify embarrassing a fellow Jew in public as terrible offense.

If you’ve designated yourself as a “kenoyeh”, perhaps it’s not the author of this video who needs to control his/her thirst for self worth.

  • Perspective

Fiddler on the Roof was probably the only taste non-affiliated Jews had of the culture of their ancestors and gave them a lttle glimpse into their heritage. Have heard it said dozens of times on mivtzoim….Lets go and pick it apart and not look at the total picture, lets look at the forest, not just the trees…..FYI…..THIS VIDEO WAS INTENDED FOR THOSE WHO NEVER EVEN HEARd OF THE AKEIDA!!! WHO MAYBE HEARD VAGUELY OF AVRAHAM AND DONT REALLY CARE……Crown Heightzers anonymous should better be sitting with a gemorah , not being bittle Torah and sitting on the internet!!! And,certainly not to sit in judgement of a dedicated fellow Jew, a beloved Lubavitcher chassid! What would the Rebbe say about that??

  • Chanah Ariella Rosencrantz

    B”H
Nu?! So America is the land of freedom!
you’re free to go to Gehinom any way you want!

  • Stop the dinim

Its true I heard lubavitchere speaking disgusting lashon hara about Matisyahu before “he left chabad” then after he left chabad, then after he shaved his beard-just for your information he shaved his beard in parshat vayeshev-the week the shvatim sold yosef-maybe it was a sign that his “act” was symbolic of our lack as a nation-but instead we all freaked out because “Oy vey he shaved his beard what will the kids think?” instead of looking deeper inside seeing how we can do teshuva-I can understand both sides of the reactions to mendys video but seriously some of the chassidim have to relax-it’s obvious how angry and bitter they are from the negative comments they’re posting

  • to 54

so wow, matiyahu must be a really holy guy, planning his beard shaving for parshas vayeishev.
the guys a wierdo, and its a good thing he fried out, so none of our kids our even tempted to listen to him, by him disguising his shtusim in his beard!
    stop pretending to glossify everything.
this video is distasteful, unkind, and portrays a bad picture on a beautiful and most important story

  • dont get it

whats with the girls in short sleeves???
to 28, laughter is the best best medicine but this is not funny
