Video: Why do Jews Celebrate Passover?

The Rohr Jewish Learning Institute and TorahCafé.com are proud to announce the broadcast of their annual Passover Webcast: “How to Exodus in 2011.” This Webcast brings together some of the most captivating, comical and inspiring video ever produced by JLI and TorahCafé. It is truly a not-to-be-missed web event!

In preparation for Passover, the crew of TorahCafé.com hit the big city of Manhattan to find out what the average person on the street has to say about the upcoming holiday. Ever ask yourself what son you would be at the seder? Have you thought about what freedom means to you? These unsuspecting interviewees, both Jewish and non-Jewish, answer these questions and more in this hilarious, yet thoughtful video montage.

Passover is a time for asking questions. There are the questions we ask during the seder, like, “Why is this night different from all other nights?”, but there are also questions that we must ask ourselves in preparation for Passover. We have to wonder: if the redemption from Egypt happened over 3,300 years ago, is it still relevant in our lives today? In never-before-seen video footage, Rabbi Manis Friedman converses with moderator Mrs. Baila Olidort, bringing out the deeper messages of Passover.

Passover is a time when we not only remember the past redemption, but express our belief in the future and ultimate redemption as we declare, “Next Year in Jerusalem!” Through the simple, yet heart-wrenching words of Ani Ma’amin, YouTube singer sensation and star of the recent films X-Men 3 and Spud, Troye Sivan Mellet expresses the innate hope that every Jew has in the coming of Moshiach.
