Donetsk, Ukraine –- In following with a tradition that has been established over the past decade or so, the two first weeks of June is time out in Donetsk for students from the ‘Ohr Menachem’ Day School to head to camp. This summer retreat, known as ‘Camp Simcha’ is a much welcome activity for youngsters, where activities are designed to informally complement the formal education they receive throughout the year.

As in past years, the camp program for this year is packed with many fun, interesting and educational activities. Campers enjoy lessons, games and quizzes dedicated to Jewish traditions and holidays, workshops in the spheres of music and drama, as well as basic psychological educational exercises.

For one particular quiz game, participants name the holidays of the month of Tishrei. Other sessions offer the enthusiasts information about current events, geography, desertification, and astronomy. A visit to the local botanical garden is accompanied by an entertaining biology lesson. The kids will also enjoy hikes, picnics in the forest, other excursions, sports, games and a tasty Kosher diet, all of which will help the children with their health, mood and individual development.

‘Camp Simcha’ is made possible through the organization of the ‘Ohr Menachem’ Day School of Donetsk and the support of FJC President Lev Leviev.
