Chanukah Flames Burns at Marlboro Fire Station

MARLBORO, NJ — Chanukah flames were kindled by Rabbi Avrohom Bernstein, in front of the Robertsville Fire Station, Marlboro NJ on the fifth night of Chanukah in the presence of tens of “little firemen” (wearing firemen hats). The hats were distributed to the children by the station, in honor of the occasion.

Fireman Adam while giving the children and adults a tour of the fire station, gave the children an opportunity to enter the drivers cabin of the most used fire engine as well.

The Robertsville menorah on Route 520 in Marlboro, is one of 25 large menorah displays placed throughout Western Monmouth County by Rabbi Bernstein, Program Director of Chabad Of Western Monmouth County.

This years “Add Light” project brought Menorah displays to the community Fire house, First aid building, County library, County Hall Of Records, and to key shopping centers along Route 9, the main highway corridor of the community.

The “Add Light” project also brought about the distribution of over 770 menorahs to community members who undertook to light chanukah candles this year..

The menorah distribution, under the direction of Rabbi Levi Wolosow, arranged “Add Light” displays at key shops in the community, who distributed the menorahs to customers who would otherwise not light Chanukah Candles.

The bochurim of Yeshivas Beis Menachem (the Chabad Smicha Program) under the leadership of Rabbi Levi Schapiro, visited hundreds of homes throughout the community distributing Chanukah menorahs as well.

At one such visit, an elderly Holocaust survivor who’s husband past away 22 years ago, cried as she thanked the visitors for bringing her the menorah and candles, stating that since the passing of her husband, she never had the Chanukah flames lit in her home.

In a joint effort of the Bochrim and Rabbi Shmuli Volovick, the Teen Director at Chabad, a Menorah car parade was arranged for the first time in Monmouth County, with 25 cars and vans (filled with teens and children) driving down Route 9 from Chabad in Manalapan NJ to the menorah lighting at Chabad’s menorah in front of the Monmouth County Jewish Heritage museum, in Freehold NJ.

The lighting which was held in conjunction with the community lighting of the Jewish Federation of Monmouth County, was attended by nearly 200 Hebrew school children and teachers from throughout the community.
