New Shluchim to Washington, D.C.

Jews at American University will soon find themselves much closer to their local Shluchim. Rabbi Yehoshua and Esti Hecht will iy’h be moving to the American University Area in Northwest Washington, DC, which includes the campus of American University and adjoining neighborhoods.

In addition to bolstering outreach efforts to the families and young professionals in their area, the Hechts will now be bringing the impact of Chabad-Lubavitch in Washington, DC, to a new level.

While over the years American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) has successfully realized an array of national and international events and programs which have assisted shluchim across the US and around the world, this new development adds to the dynamic and growing Chabad-Lubavitch institutions serving the unique community of Washington, DC, including The SHUL of the Nation’s Capital at the (Chabad) Lubavitch Center in Dupont Circle and the phenomenal expansion of activities sponsored by American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) at The George Washington University, directed by Rabbi Yudi and Rivky Steiner, whose legendary work has literally helped transform Jewish life on that campus.

Rabbi Hecht has served in various positions in shlichus with distinction – in Florida, Brazil, France and elsewhere in Europe and Israel. Mrs. Hecht has headed various day camps and other programs in California, New York, Israel and Australia, and is the founder and dean of Binah Online, a web based learning program for post-Seminary girls on shlichus.

Rabbi and Mrs. Hecht were appointed by Rabbi Levi Shemtov, senior shliach to Washington, DC and Executive Vice President of American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad).

    Shluchim,
Please learn from Rabbi Shemtov stop holding places for your children, if there are yiddin waiting and thirsty for a Shliach don’t deprive them. Learn a lesson from Rabbi Shemtov help the Rebbe fulfill his vision of Shliach ose Shliach.

  • once again if your father in law is

if your father in law is the head shliach you get a job

cmon in the interests of truth tell the world i hired my son in law

what do we tell all the talented guys who didnt marry into shlichus

  • Stick to the facts

The other shliach Rabbi Shemtov brought to Washington, DC is not related at all. What is wrong with hiring a relative if they can do the work? He is bringing other new shluchim soon, and they are also not related. He doesnt only offer to relatives, but why should his own children not have a chance?

    Be fair.

  • Hatzlocha

    Go Esti and Shua!
You guys are amazing and will iyh do an incredible job!!!

  • Nee Shemtov

I think these articles about new couples going out on Shlichus should include the wife’s maiden name,so we know whats going on.Just sayin.

  • not on shlichus

If children are capable they should have first choice in continuing on their parents work on shlichus. Why give someone else the opportunity if you can support your children and they are more than capable to do the job. As an outsider, not on shlichus, there needs to be some objectivity here. Anyone in the business world prioritises children in a family business. why should shlichus be different if the kids can do the job? Tzedokah begins at home. children are loyal and will be dedicated to making their parents and the rebbe proud by enhancing their parents shlichus. Why are there some people that always have negative things to say? For Heavens sake, its Erev Rosh Hashana.Good luck to the daughter and son in law. Mazal tov on your shilchus.
