Chabad of Orange County’s Chocolate Model Seder

Rabbi Pesach and Chana Burston led a fun, interactive Chocolate Model Seder to teach about the Passover Seder – with chocolaty goodness.

Chabad Hebrew School students, along with parents and siblings, were invited to participate. All of the Seder traditions transformed to chocolate – with a chocolate Seder plate, 4 cups of chocolate milk, apples dipped in chocolate syrup (for karpas), chocolate covered Matzah, bittersweet chocolate and sour sticks for Maror, chocolate-apple-nut for Charoset, matzah s’mores for Koreich, chocolate fish crackers as well as authentic (non-chocolate) matzah ball soup for Shilchan Oreich, among others.

The 10 plagues were reenacted with the acting of several students and parents. Students were surprised with chocolate sprinkles for the plague of lice, chocolate animal crackers for the plague of wild animals, as well as other fun surprises.

Through humor, stories and games, students and parents learned the meaning behind the sacred Passover Seder traditions – and how to run a Seder in their own home.

“The Model Seder taught the authentic customs as well, and even had models of the real items on the table – But this Chocolate Seder will be memorable!” said one of the participants.
