Chabad of Tallahassee Celebrates Chanukah with Governor Crist

For the Tenth consecutive year in Tallahassee, Florida Governor Charlie Crist enjoyed the Chanukah celebration arranged by Chabad of Tallahassee, the local branch of Jewish outreach giant Chabad-Lubavitch. The event was well attended with over 100 people, including many Chabad Rabbis from all over Florida. You can feel that the amazing energy of Chanukah was felt vibrantly in the air.

The event was kicked off with a delectable array of delicious Chanukah goodies which featured Latkes, Jelly doughnuts, Chocolate “Gelt” (coins), an array of Kosher Cheese and an abundant selection of Kosher Wine.

The Governor then opened his home for the third annual Menorah Lighting at the Governor’s Mansion also known as “the People’s House”. Many of Chabad of Tallahassee’s main supporters had the honor of speaking in which, in their own way, explained the story of the miracle of Chanukah and how amazing it was that the State of Florida was able to help all Jews celebrate Chanukah in this special, unique way.

A special surprise was given to the Governor. He was given was given a Crystal Dreidel (Spinning Top), which he graciously accepted.

Then the event went well under way as The governor helped little Sholom Oirechman, age 6, light the seven-foot menorah in the mansion’s front room. The celebration also featured rigorous dancing and the ambiance was great.

The event was well covered by all State wide Media, Newspapers & Local News Channels in the State of Florida.

When the party was concluded, all guests and rabbis formed a Minyan for Mincha.
