MORRISTOWN, NJ [CHI] — Over 40 college students from as far as Montreal, California, Florida, Philadelphia and as local as NJ’s Rutgers University, joined together this past weekend for an inspiring and enriched weekend at Yeshiva Tiferes Bachrim, Morristown, NJ.

Dr. Yaakov Hanoka was invited as scholar in residence. Dr. Hanoka joined the Shabbos meals and farbrenged with all the visiting and current students.

On Sunday, the students were further treated to a special hands-on workshop, where they enjoyed in-depth science experiments, with fossils and interesting displays of carbon twelve.

Hanoka’s lectures focused on various time dating methods, such as, tree-rings dating, carbon dating, dinosaurs etc. Quoting Midrash, Chumash and other traditional sources, the Dr. was able to apply them to modern day applications.

He also discussed their reliability and compatibility with the Torah. Hanoka’s expressed that his approach is based greatly on the Rebbe’s articles and teachings on these matters.

Students interviewed after the Dr’s. presentation stated that they were very excited to hear all about Hanoka’s close relationship with the Rebbe and his unique experiences in being amongst the first group of Baalei Teshuva.

Hanoka engaged both mind and interest of all present. “This is the first time I ever studied Torah, and it was a real eye opening experience!” stated Jason, from Philadelphia, PA. “I am truly inspired. ”
